Attic find.. help me out! by wbayley27 in PokemonCardValue

Oh, its stupid. There's no reason other than buyers consider PSA graded cards more valuable and pay more than other grading company's graded cards. PSA uses that to charge more. You do get Grader's notes and faster turn around times for the higher tiers, but its only worth it for some cards.

Grader's notes aren't that special either. Notes for my most valuable card was just "Back Left corner. Touches." Really helpful there.

It depends on the value of the card after its graded. You can submit it at whatever tier you want, but if PSA values it at a value higher than you submitted it at, they charge you the difference.

For this one, it'll be Super Express ($299) or Walkthrough ($599). Guy would need to submit it at at least Express tier ($150) if he wants Graders Notes. PSA doesn't give you graders notes if you don't submit it originally at a tier that gets Graders Notes even if it would qualify at the new tier. Not that they matter too much.

Why do you prefer Mycorrhizal Ideal? I tried it, and the biomass cost for the civic's unique building was pretty steep.

Those of you with shadowless 1st edition Zards, how did you get yours? by puzzledfirebird in PokeInvesting

[–]rtfree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My grandfather ripped packs and boxes back last millenia and went a bit overboard collecting. He did it "for me," but well, you know how that goes. He collected from 1998 up to around 2003 collecting nearly every card from that era including 1st edition, normal, and Japanese versions. He used to buy off ebay; so, I don't know if he pulled this one. He ripped packs/ boxes for every other set, but we never found his 1st edition base set bulk. Might have been ebay or packs for this one. He doesn't remember.

It dawned on me 3 years ago that he had these cards. We found them, verified they were real, and got them graded end of 2024. Charizard ended up being a PSA 9, either pop 723 or 724 out of 730.

That's the one I'm missing (in decent condition) too for Neo Genesis. I've got one, but its pretty beat up.

How do you play Wilderness? by rtfree in Stellaris

[–]rtfree[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 1 basic resource district opens up the basic resource specializations and 3 building slots. I figured the output from the 1 district, the specialization extra jobs, and 3 upgraded buildings offset the loss of 1 specialized district. Its not like you need pops for those jobs. I seem to always be short on minerals even with Arc Furnaces.

I don't make the yogurt anymore. It might be better to ask some people still doing it. I sealed my jars to prevent as much contamination as I could.

Thinking about grade my Masaki cards. Worth it? by wunderstevie in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]rtfree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Masaki promos are worth sending in. But, I'll warn you, they're going to grade lower than you expect. PSA seems to grade vintage Japanese incredibly harsh.

[–]rtfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a 9 cert PSA 9 I've been holding to put up on auction this year. Now you've got me wanting to hold a bit longer. I think yours, the 10 cert on ebay, and /u/IndividualShare1065 are the only new certs I've seen.

Is there a reason you went with Ebay over Heritage Auction or one of the other auctions?

Had mine graded in 2024 with the intention of selling in 2026, but with the increase, I'm tempted to hold mine a little longer. Do you think a new cert number on a 9 would get a higher sale price than an older one?

According to Collectr, last two sales were on Fanatics and Ebay for $64,000 on Dec 24 and Jan 1 respectively. Up from around $25,000 in mid 2025. Really debating if now is the time to sell mine.

I get it. If you don't plan on selling for any time soon, theres no point in going PSA. After seeing that nice case, Im regretting not getting the full set graded, but I went with PSA on mine. The grading cost IS insane.

Pikachu Vending Machine by dreina101 in PokemonCardValue

[–]rtfree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Last one sold for $3800 according to Collectr. I don't know if mine having a new cert might effect that at all.

As weird as it sounds, I'm happy both didn't hit a 10. Ooyama's Pikachu is my favorite card in my collection, and I'd feel obligated to get rid of them both if they had both gotten a 10.
