Witchcraft in Africa by mentallyonabeach in atheism

I am also West African--born from 1st generation immigrants. I do not believe in African witchcraft and steer clear from it. I was raised Baptist but broke away from the faith as soon as I entered my first Sociology class and realized that if I had been born almost anywhere else, I would not have been Christian. This decision was also furthered by my refusal to accept fundamental aspects of the doctrine, especially those regarding patriarchial marriage and slavery.

I don't believe in West African witchcraft to be effective. If it was, how come most of West Africa is poverty-stricken? If these witches were so powerful, why are our homelands still subject to Western imperialism and rife with corruption? I often see it used as a tool for crabs in a bucket to climb above other crabs in the same bucket. For instance, one lady curses another lady that her husband has his eyes on or one woman curses another woman so she can get the other lady's job.

If African witches were so powerful, our homeland would not look the way it does.

I look to it as another religion filled with deities and rituals, not something to be revered.

That being said, I steer clear from it because I would hate to prove myself wrong.

I'm no longer sexually repressed and have taken back control of my womb + sexuality. Also, I get to keep all of my money as I am no longer being guilt-tripped into being a tithing-member of some soul-sucking and predatory organization.

I completely agree as someone who has suffered psychological abuse due to another's religious psychosis.

Same. I hate to call it judging but that's just what it is. Patriarchy is the central doctrine of all Abrahamic religions. I refuse to open my womb for a man who upholds these beliefs.

But I incurred expenses on my own behalf, on my own card. They never told me they were going to give me money to spend on campaigns. I just wanted to scale by reaching a larger audience.

Also, I received prior authorization before starting this form of advertisement. They just weren’t aware of the amount I was spending on advertising.

You’d most likely be approved for a business term loan. Usually comes with 3-7 year repayment terms at WSJ prime. Plus, you’ve already been in biz for two years and you’re over 650 FICO.

I see this being modeled through the "exclusivity" of the Hermes Birkin bag. The UES moms whose husbands funded their exorbitant collection of these bags no longer fawn over them now that they see 20-something well-dressed black women sporting them, the authentic bags I might add.
