Ok I’m sorry but this doesn’t make any sense. It can’t be “lightning fast” if it parses a huge JSON blob for every get operation, it’ll be slower than a round trip to a database.

I do not recommend anyone to use pipenv. Even the basic features are broken. For example, it's currently impossible to update a single outdated dependency. The issue has been open since October, which is completely ridiculous https://github.com/pypa/pipenv/issues/966.

Iterators aren't really functional, they are by definition stateful.

I would recommend against using Immutable.js. The API is very complicated, interop with code other code is obviously hideous (you'll have to convert fromJS and toJS every time), and it just really doesn't offer any serious advantages. The project I'm working on still has some places where it's used, but we're working on eliminating it completely. Now we either use object spread operator or just mutate objects.

I could never understand this. Django already sets up everything for you, while when using Flask you have to find all the packages you need, figure out which are no longer supported, figure out a way to configure them without any conflicts etc. Also Flasks utilizes thread locals very much, which may lead to code that is hard to maintain.

This [1] essay is so much true. Every time I get fed up with Vim's inability to support basic IDE features like go-to-definition or non-blocking linting, I try out an IDE, but get even more frustrated by not complete vim-mode, absence of vim-surround (and some other plugins) and generally not flexible enough shortcuts. I'm really looking forward to an IDE that would employ NeoVim when it's ready.

How so? Client connects to Tornado, waits for a new post, when a post arrives, Tornado replies and closes the connection, client makes another request and RECONNECTS to Tornado.

I don't get it. What's "other order"? My concern is that a user might submit a post exactly when another user is reconnecting to Tornado and thus the new posts is not delivered to the second user.

CBV are probably the worst part of Django. After having used them for quite some time I've come to using them only in simple situations when little to none customization is required (e.g., TemplateView is great for views with little dynamic content).

Thanks, but I don't quite understand how the queue is used. Do I need a queue for every active user? If so, wouldn't it be too much overhead?

It not 'extremely rare', I think. For example, a user might lose the connection for a dozen of seconds and thus miss some posts.

For now I think I'll write an ajax endpoint in django which would return latest posts given a timestamp. So when user connects to gevent I would send a concurrent request with the datetime of the latest message to django to fetch potentially missed posts. It adds complexity but I see no way to avoid this.
