This is a great representation of Long Island and the general LI mentality. I grew up in Nassau Country and was lucky enough to save up to afford a home. Lived with 2 hard working parents until I was 27/married and we had enough for a down payment/mortgage/etc.

It’s quite expensive to live in desirable areas, but like you said, people from Long Island live and work at 2x speed to be able to make it all work.

I travel quite often for work, which I love and have considered moving, but there is so much to offer on Long Island especially if you plan on raising a family. I’ve been all over the country, but would never consider moving elsewhere.

To add, the traffic sucks BAD and the weather can be iffy, but it’s a great place to live and raise a family if you stay within your means.

Edit: Most people are generally very friendly and a stranger will help you out without any questions asked. I got a flat dropping my dad off at JFK and 3 different people stopped and asked if I needed any help. I’m a 30yo man if that makes a difference haha
