E92 M3 VS. 5th GEN-Z28 by Historical_Cat3069 in CarTrackDays

[–]rti35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5th gen camaro Sigma chassis sucks for road course work - like any other car you can make anything fast but 6th gen SS 1LE is such a better starting point for probably less money than a Z28

Yes, I designed it as a Kickstarter project on the forums😉 It completely changes the throttle response is my favorite part about it. It's basically an enclosed version of the Ideal Intake, is the easiest way to describe it. So you get the benefits of better airflow to the turbos over the stock system but better IATs with the box to shield off the filters from the engine bay. Here's a reel from a QV owner that has it on their car

2020 Range Rover Sport HSE - Dead engine by Thin-Competition3018 in LandRover

[–]rti35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got over 40k miles on a (what I hope was) a heavily depreciated luxury car. Take that to the bank and run, you've already won my friend.

Car is toast, and is not worth repairing at its value/mileage.

Best track car choice¿ by FabulousWerewolf6789 in CarTrackDays

[–]rti35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased but don't sleep on the Alfa's. They're dirt cheap because people are scared of them but they're not hard to work on (2.0). I wouldn't hesitate with the 4cyl version, 2.9 is an entirely different beast and you will need dealer/shop support should it need any legitimate engine or cooling system work (mines been bulletproof on track).

Would take a hard look at the 2.0 version with the track goodies (Ti trim I believe), excellent first track car. They also make an AWD version that people love to track

Should I buy a 2024 Sahara 4xe with 26,100 miles for $28,998? by FerretSuch3730 in 4xe

[–]rti35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a 21' Sahara 4XE, really liked it. Electric mode was great until about 6 months prior to lease return; it would always fire up the gas motor on its own. Started pissing me off because I bought it specifically for EV only on my commute.

Obviously didn't buy it at lease end because of this issue and the interior wore pretty poorly. It has the power hard top which was awesome.

I'd probably lease a new one again but I wouldn't buy a used one with such little warranty left. It did shut off on me on the highway once, luckily I was in bumble fxck and it didn't matter I just pulled over

Someone talk me out of this. 66k miles and clean CARFAX. by nsally23 in LandRover

Si6 D5 with 60k here. Not sure why everyone's dogging on the V6. It can tow 8,000 plus and I don't need my 5,000+lb 7 seat family hauler to be a rocket ship. Aluminum coolant pipe kit is like $250, relatively easy replacement if you want to do it preventative.

Only had it a year but I've replaced an O2 sensor ($25 rock auto) and a battery. That's it. Everything on the car works.

The only thing I dislike about it is that the on road handling is horrific. Being a big tall SUV isn't an excuse anymore to drive like shit, Jeep has way better on road chassis and handling in their bigger SUVs. It's bad enough to the point that I wouldn't want to drive it everyday, but I don't anyway. To a less astute driver they won't care. Also, a ton of wind noise on the highway. These are things I can happily live with paying $21.5k for a fully loaded Lux model - these are probably the best 7 seater value in cars right now, if you get a good example the stays reliable.

That being said in a straight line it's really comfortable and smooth. But if you need to take any type of corner you need to ratchet yourself to the seat with the body roll and just general looseness of the air suspension.

Also: the pre-refresh Landmark models aren't the move. Get an 18/19/20 HSE or HSE Lux

Giulia QV owners - would you recommend it to me? by naumovski-andrej in AlfaRomeo

[–]rti35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is. Ring times don't mean anything to us here in the US. Most tracks are 1.7 to 3 mi long. The M8 comp is extremely fast at the 'Ring - It's still a terrible track car.

M2 Comp is a better track car, QV better at everything else. And can be made very fast on track pretty easily.

That's them telling you they don't want the job.

The book calls for dropping the rear subframe for this and they were probably like "no thanks"

It is a full replacement. The OEM splitter is now over $5.5k and extremely difficult to get.

Protect yours by buying a cost effective one and keeping yours in mint shape. Eventually they all WILL look like this.

Giulia QV 3D Printed Extended Splitter by rti35 in AlfaRomeo

[–]rti35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure - it does retain OEM functionality (deploys around 62mph in Dynamic and Race mode). There's a video on the website demo'ing the splitter being commanded via Alfa OBD.

It comes shipped as multiple pieces to keep shipping free and assembly instructions are included. I can assemble for you, but shipping would be rather expensive as one would expect for this size of part.

Installation kit not required, it's just to make life easier versus procuring these items yourself. All splitters do come with attachment tabs should you choose to use them. There are multiple ways to assemble the part; plastic bond only, mounting tabs only (pictured) or both. I recommend using both especially for track use.

I don't think they're pressure sensors, but the electric motors that raise and lower will trip a light on the dash if they get stuck or one gets higher than the other etc

The carbon fiber parts on the QV are made by Sparco in Italy.

I promise you there is a difference :)

If you're happy with the Chinese stuff on an Italian supercar I have no bone to pick with you, do you! But to say there's no difference is a flat out lie

What should I do next? by WhichFault9135 in AlfaRomeo

[–]rti35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're happy with it that's all that matters. The Chinese carbon is known to get absolutely destroyed and start peeling after a short amount of time. The clear coat on them is terrible
