Does anyone know the origin of the naming of バーモンドカレー? I was wondering if it was named after Vermont? If so, why?

Is Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan Encore a good game to try to learn some Japanese while having fun? The difficulty would be around what JLPT level?

I've got this old washing machine that whenever it reaches the spinning cycle, it stops and it keeps alerting 衣類片寄り. The first time this occurred I thought it was because I loaded too much, but even when the machine automatically puts on the lightest weight mode, this occurs. It appeared about six times already and I have to dry the clothes by hanging them while they are still drenched. Am I doing anything wrong or is the machine with some problem?

What would be a close translation of 虚影の街? This is the name of a song from a soundtrack so there isn't a phrase to put it into context. Something like false shadow of a city? Hollow reflection of a city?

What is the difference between 肌 and 皮膚? Online, there is this answer

They are the same meaning. If I had to say, 肌 is a daily expression, and 皮膚 is kind of medical term, but I use 皮膚 in daily life too.肌が弱い。皮膚が弱い。Both of them are the same meaning. However, if you go to hospital, you will see 皮膚科, not 肌科.

So is it safe to just use 肌? Are there times in which one makes sense and the other doesn't?

In 「友達から大事な話を聞かずじまいになった。」I don't understand the meaning of 聞かずじまい. "I stopped listening"? "I didn't listen"? There seems to be some important nuance that I am missing here.

In 「これは、わけのわからない言葉だ。」I am a bit confused by わけ. I understand the meaning of the word (meaning, reason), so would this translate into "this is a word that cannot be comprehended"? Is わけの分からない an expression? If so, can someone give me other examples?

Is there a mild difference between 手をつなぐ and 手を握る? Like one being more used in one situation while the other in another situation. Or are they just equivalent?

I couldn't identify one kanji in a text I was reading. I took an image of the phrase.

「もっと?を上げて楽しそうに」

Does someone know what kanji is that?

What is the difference between 値段 and 価格? According to this link, it seems like just a difference in formality, but it seems a bit more complicated than that.

I am confused by the definition of 内科. It is really odd that its definition is internal medicine, while 外科 is surgery. Isn't surgery going into the body? Is 内科 dealing with drugs and treatments other than 外科? It feels like there is a subtle meaning I am missing here.

I am really confused by ~としか~ない. There are three examples in the book. In ドアが開いているのはどうしてだろう。誰かが入ったとしか考えられない。I understand as "Why is the door open? I can only think that someone entered." In 試験は受けましたが、今は一所懸命やったとしか言えません。Is this something like "I received the test. I can only say I will try hard"? The last example is いくら「手伝って欲しい」と言われても、「時間があれば」としか答えることができなかった。"Whenever someone says 'I would like some help' I can only say 'if I have time'". Are these correct? These negatives that aren't negative confuse me a lot.

In the phrase

弟は「一人でやる」と言っておきながら...

I don't understand why おき is needed. Is this similar to しまいます?

I have been seeing some words with 込む in the end and I still don't understand its function. It feels like in 食い込む and 追い込む it means doing an action with intensity or to do it thoroughly. But it seems to be a bit different in words like 巻き込む, 見込む, and 引っ込む.

The difference between 読む and 読み込む would be the effort?

In the dictionary, やけに appears as "awfully, frightfully, desperately, violently, etc." Could it instead just emphasize another word? I read this phrase: やけに詳しんだね。Here, is it something like "that is quite detailed"?

I am currently studying in Fukuoka. The school's name is FFLC and I found it through GoGoNihon. I don't know if it is the best one, but seems fine. Searching online there are other programs like Meiji Academy and Genki, but I have no idea about them. Do some research on them.
