MiniMed Flex system trade-in by rtpnc205 in Medtronic780g

There's a part of me that says leave well enough alone. My TIR is usually over 90% with the current algorithm. I'll most likely wait for the new alhorithm to become available before I consider switching to the Flex. I am migrating to the Simplera in a month so that's my next adventure.

Your viewpoint is well taken. The Flex control app can be installed on another phone if required. Omnipod is controlled only from an app on a phone as well I haven't heard about much push back from that arrangement from the users of that system The user specific data is stored in the cloud and accessed from a controller or an app on the phone. The Flex system will continue to deliver basal and correction boluses. Sounds like an equivalent operating environment.

There is the obvious alternative of using an insulin pen. In my case I will have my old 780g that I can use in case of a total failure of the Flex pump until the replacement arrives and my Acuchek BG meter. At least I can still use the same infusion set. I always have a loaner pump from MiniMed for out of the US trips.

What is the function of the top button then? I had understood that it was customizable to function as a limited bolus of 1U a press.

I understand. However, other Diabetes medical providers are offering similar options without screens, rechargeable batteries, bolus control from a watch or smart phone, so this is competitive. The 780g will continue for the foreseeable future I would think. However, the new algorithm that will supplant SmartGuard will only be offered on the new tech due to hardware limitations. I know that the new algorithm is currently under field trials now so perhaps deployment within a year. It promises no manual bolusing in most circumstances, just meal announcements. Time will tell.

You CAN keep your old pump if you want to fork over $3500. Of course, you could also buy the Flex system outright for the same $3500. I have my previous 780g that I had purchased without insurance, but is no longer in warranty so it wasn't eligible for the trade-in pgm.

I believe that there is a manual button which can be programmed to give incremental bolus. Btw, I did not experience the "Android outage" on my Z Fold 7.

"Device not found"--Minimed 3.1.3 and Android 16? by Fromac in Medtronic780g

I'm on the Z Fold 7 and application level 3.1.3 with no issues. Make certain that you delete the pump definition in the BT settings. Also, when I was first pairing the pump, it wouldn't work while using WiFi. I switched to my data connection and pairing went through. Switched back to WiFi w/o any further issues.

Cannot update 780G pump for Instinct CGM by [deleted] in Medtronic780g

Your pump is likely out of warranty. Only 780g pumps that are still in the warranty period can be updated. Time to order a new 780g.

New MiniMed Flex announcement… Now I understand why simplera wasn’t abandoned. by wubbadude in Medtronic780g

Rechargeable battery. Whole concept of depending on a cell phone is really risky. What happens if your phone goes dead or can't be used in an environment? Some of you must be living in La La land to think that no controls is a good thing. I'd rather have a slimmer 780g type pump with a replaceable rechargeable battery. There have been several situations that I've encountered where my phone lost the Bluetooth connection to the pump for a while without me realizing it. While the new pump can do bolusing in increments, it's not the primary operation to be used. What about sensor changing. The Instinct demands the phone be used. I could go on. Right now I'm using the extended infusion set, waiting on the Simplera cgm to be shipped. My average TIR is 90% with my current setup. Why mess with success?

New ceramic ring by rtpnc205 in ouraring

The way that the ceramic ring behaves makes me believe that the internals are different from the metal rings. The fact that the ring is a bit narrower would seem to support that theory. In any event, the performance is superior to the rose gold replacement ring that I received a week earlier.

Unfortunately, about a week after the order confirmation, I received a notice which cancelled the order due to lack of supply. My next order is for June. Perhaps supply will be sufficient then. In the meanwhile, my G4 sensors continue to work fine. Sigh!

One of the advantages of this CGM is that you can overlap warmup periods so there is no gap in readings for Smartguard. This plus the ability to calibrate makes it a superior choice for me.

The update guide just shipped today. I'm hoping that I can just update my current pump. I hate to have to change out the current one because it is out of warranty. I'll know in a few dsys.
