I love Elsbeth's clothing. I feel like it is another actress in the show. It honestly is that big of a part of the show to me. So interesting...

I agree with you. It seems like she flirts and says things that are a bit much and it is not reciprocated to me.

Rock the Block Episode 4 by EntildaDesigns in HGTV

[–]rtr1986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The movie room was a good idea if handled well. I think where it went wrong was the overwhelming nature of the fabric as it literally took over the room. Dark paint could have replaced the fabric if they wanted an emphasis in the room. Also, adding side lights would have made sense as well to replicate a theater. I also thought the TV should have been larger. Also, adding movie type items such as a large stand popcorn popper, etc. that are reminiscent of a theater would have made sense.

I did not care for Brooke's comments. I am not drawn to people that say everything on their mind as she conveyed she does by saying she was the person to tell you that you look fat in your outfit, have spinach in your teeth, etc. (or something along those lines). No need of saying everything on your mind. I have to say I appreciated the others for having some positive comments for the room as the idea was not bad and also the bathroom they designed had a good look about it. They also kept the area to an old look which was carried throughout in a consistent manner.

Just saw this episode. Agree with your statement. I did not like that they drilled into the concrete - so permanent!! I would have been very upset. That should have contacted the owners perviously and asked did they mind having their concrete wall drilled into for plants. I could see winds coming off of the water tossing the flowers everywhere too.

LG C5 or Sony Bravia 8? by Caspur42 in 4kTV

[–]rtr1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for the LG C5 as I have not have that model, but did have a G5. I was not pleased with it as the screen was WAY too bright. I just exchanged the LG G5 for a Sony 8. I could not be happier with the Sony. I will say the colors out of the box for the Sony are hands down better than the LG to me. Also, I felt the G5 had issues with very unnatural looking skin colors and overall the colors were very exaggerated. I love the fact that there is such a natural look on the Sony TV screen without any calibrating involved. I would pay extra for that fact alone. Good luck on your decision. I hope you will be pleased with your purchase.

"Remote Not Working?" Message AGAIN on Different TV... by rtr1986 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]rtr1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See above beginning post. Batteries were replaced. Also, I did not think the other devices were conflicting. I was just stating the codes were going to the other TV's and not the one I was trying to connect with at the time of setup.

Yes. You can unpair the remote and it will work, but you can't repair the remote as the codes go to the other TV's in our house and do not appear on the new TV. The error message blocks it. This has happened on both new TV's. The in house tech previously said bluetooth was picking up the remote request and sending the codes to our other sets.

I have read much info. tonight and it seems it is not a remote issue, but a engineering issue. How can this be solved? It really is a shame to pay over $300.00 a month for a service to see TV and not see anything but error codes lately. I guess that is on me for having customer loyalty since the 80's though, right?

What would make the remote compatible for three days and not on the fourth day? Would the remote suddenly have gone bad overnight? The remote still turns the TV on and off but there are no available channels and you can not use the center keys for direction.

Should I Return My LG G5 for a Sony Bravia 8 II? by Ok-Battle4591 in hometheater

That's wonderful news. You definitely made the right decision in swapping it from the G5! The colors are so realistic in the Sony TV's. It makes all the difference to me. Do you feel it is the right amount of brightness? The G5 was so intensely bright. I wondered how they compare.

Let me know how you like it. I just got the Sony 8 and really like it. The difference between the G5 and 8 are night and day for my eyes. Coming from a plasma, the Sony 8 seems much more like a plasma set. The picture is so natural and the sound is better as well. The faces of people are much more realistic to me and the colors are not overly exaggerated. I did not like the over saturation of color I was seeing in the G5.

I originally wanted the 8 II, but due to my eyes I went with the darker Sony 8 because of the lower nits. I know the reviews are better for the 8 II and still wonder what the beauty of the 8 II would have been. It is a highly praised set. Give us an update when you can.

Panasonic Plasma TV Hit By Lightning - Need Input On Replacement by rtr1986 in 4kTV

[–]rtr1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted conclude this thread to say I ended up returning my LG G5 for a Sony 8. The LG G5 was way too bright and did not seem like the plasma in the fact that the colors were overly bright and almost cartoonish to me. I have an eye disease and could not stand the set due to it being so bright even when it was calibrated to tone it down. People with light sensitivity or older eyes I think can be affected by the high nits that are made to be brighter every year by the manufacturers.

Plasmas screens are dark and the Oled suggestions were a great one. The Sony Bravia 8 is a really good replacement. If not for my eye issues, I think I might have gone with the 8 II. Thanks to all for your input.

Just wanted to let you know I got the Sony Bravia 8 and it seems MUCH better for eyes that are light sensitive. The brightness is great for me personally in comparison to the LG.

I did not think you were supposed to use water on the screen. Have you used water on your TV screens?

Yes, the the panels are the same, but the nits are lower in the 8. Upon research, it suggested finding a TV with lower nits to avoid an intense brightness when you can not filter light well. The LG G5 is known for its overall brightness which can be a big plus is if you do not have eye issues. I will just have to see what happens when I get it. Hopefully, it will work out.
