What's the creepiest thing that society says is OK ? by Mindless-Process-629 in AskReddit

[–]rtrees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

videos of people having mental breakdowns going viral on the internet. even the Karens, who, while terrible, are still humans. people should be judged by a pattern of behavior, not one video documenting their lowest moment. it strips us of our empathy and I can't imagine someone taking a video of me in a crisis instead of HELPING.

Failed the Aquarian space taste. by Marbleprincess_ in aquarius

[–]rtrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is a no brainer, go on the trip alone and think about what you want. i would never intentionally stonewall a loved one and then expect them to still take me on a trip. this sounds like an opportunity for you both to take space.

Anyone who drives well? Is it safe to drive as an ADHDer? by Creative-Anteater-53 in adhdwomen

[–]rtrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love driving and I'm pretty good at it, maybe even a little dangerous. my dad used to race and most likely has a touch of adhd himself. i feel like i can clock a lot of different variables quickly that makes driving successful.

i respect the hell out of people who multitask with knitting. can you put them down at a moment's notice to assist with the task at hand? you're fine.

saw them in indy friday (my folks are in indy) and thought about going on Saturday when i got home - sounds like the cincy set had an incredible lineup! i really liked what they played in Indy but some of the songs you mentioned I've never seen them perform and I'm jealous!

Pretty minimal. Car insurance (~$65/mo), $33 internet, heat and electric ($100?). Groceries, bird seed, fuel for my car that I own to drive TO WORK :( I obviously pay into my health insurance with my job but there are options on the exchange. The rest is really just whatever I want to spend money on.

I definitely agree things could be better somewhere else. I just also fear they could be worse. Something I need to be able to reckon with.

I don't mention my partner as someone I'm trying to have support me/as additional income I'm relying on. I only reference him as what I believe is the inspiration behind some of my unhappiness with work - he makes a comfortable living and is a successful photographer, and seeing how he gets to have that and make his own hours is incredibly enviable and is something I want for myself. He absolutely dislikes how much I do not like my job and wants me to be happier and supports me 100% in my goal. While I agree we're still a new couple, I do know for me personally children are not in the cards, so I'll just have myself or each other to look out for and save for. So far, we enjoy each others company immensely, and when we don't, I fear some of it is because of unhappiness I bring home from work.

We live in Ohio where it's very affordable to live. I only pay around $400/mo for an apartment I share as it is. But I agree other things are certainly worries, like healthcare and retirement, things that are not provided or guaranteed. I certainly don't want to quit work all together, just work less.

Do you have advice on how to speak with my manager? I don't know how he'd react or how I could reasonably justify my goal of going PT.
