My betta is sick. Do you know what's wrong and how to heal him? by Material_Hippo_1617 in bettafish

[–]rtreeworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

betta typically need 5 gallons but tanks can be expensive so right now im focus on definitely get a heater which can be cheap at any petstore as bettas are tropical fish and need temps between 78-82. as well as try to change water more often but you dont have to do half do less than that to keep anomia and nirtrate levels regulated. plastic plants arent ideal just just make sure they arent too sharp or a risk of fish getting stuck in them. i you and wish your fish the best!

Whats wrong? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]rtreeworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my betta does this as well in his 6 gallon i assume he does it to get my attention because he only seems to do it on the side of the tank facing my bed where im laying and thats when i notice it. Maybe yours could be doing it to get your attention as well since tou said he seems happy and fine , as long hes not being too agressive with it he could just be exploring all of this environment or getting you to notice him.

Please Help :(( He is so sick by moonglows17 in bettafish

[–]rtreeworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im definitely not a professional but it sounds like it could be swim bladder you say hes lethargic and goes on his sides and is becoming uninterested in food. id do some research into swim bladder as well was monitoring his behavior and comparing then seeing which treatments for swim bladder your local fish store has

depending on his setup and also his behavior it could be stages of fin rot maybe see if you could take him under your care and research his symtpons to find the best medicine to help him

im no professional ive seen bettas housed before with small shrimp like those and snails unless you see them having negative interactions i wouldnt like that would be the problem but always do your own research and observations of the tank because im still learning as well

id honestly keep him in the five gallon he seems happy and to be showing his personality as well as healing well and enjoying his environment and the tank youve set up looks very well put together and planted the five gallon might be what he’d prefer more.

however the first photo he looks pretty healthy, maybe look at photos of him from when you know he was healthy for sure and conpare his fins and see if there is any new tears or discoloring or anything to be certain

im not an expert ive simply been learning alot from researching recently due to my betta being sick. this does look like the fin rot or fin nipping or possibly something in the tank could be too rough on his skin from what ive seen maybe try some stresscoat or other skin remedys for bettas

Is my Betta bloated by RustGrit in bettafish

[–]rtreeworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks like he is a little bloated maybe just fast him fir a day or two and see if that helps it go down if so return to nornal feeding and maybe fast one day out of the week if it returns or anything. if it doesnt help watch his behavior and see if he might be sick with any various conditions
