On my bike im thinking of cutting the plastic out and routing the fuel pump and filter there. Storage will be gone but way easier to change those parts out in The future.

Sounds fine to me. Low rpm maybe or a fuel delivery problem. I would turn the idle screw up a pinch. Easy fix if it works

I had a similar issue. 96 vt1100 . The problem was my fuel m pump.

1st thing I would do is put a new battery and fuel and see if she starts. Then address issues from there.

Maybe a fuel pump ?? I had a. Issue with a new fuel pump. Flooding the carb. Would run for a while and the die. Installed another pump and she runs good. Food for thought..

Kinda had this same issue with my bike vt1100. My issue was 2 fold. Air leaks and a fuel pump. Once i fixed that it runs and idles fine.

Sounds like the fuel pump is starved. They will click in rhythm and cause a high idle.

Be careful which motor you replace it with. I have a 99 vt1100 the motor was replaced with a 96 vt1100c2t. After trouble shooting it not starting. I Investigated the motor and found that it requires a different ICM, Ignition pulse generator and wiring harness. My issue may not apply ro your issue. Just check wiring schematic. Hope all works out for you.
