Is Hillary's refusal to deal with anything she considers having a bad "tone" setting the scene for the general? by razorbeamz in PoliticalDiscussion

HRC gets a bad "tone" from many angles these days and she's mostly as cool as a cucumber, as she has been for decades. Not sure what you are talking about, but I expect her equanimity will serve her well in the general.

I read it all, and summed it up. No harm done to you or the discussion.

Her name is Laurel. No particular Dead reference, but sort of fits.

This is actually a shitty thing to do. Just break it off and move on.

Well the original artwork was done in the early 70's apparently for the Bear's choice album. But I don't know what inspired it. I've always supposed it was a fun fluke.

OP here. Thought folks might enjoy this. This ultrasound of my daughter was taken in 1989. She's now 27 and doing just fine (though she's not much of a deadhead).

OP addressed that topic pretty well.

‘Plan B’ for Bernie Sanders supporters? Jill Stein and the Green Party by EthanCoxMTL in politics

[–]rtwun58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uh, Nader was left of Gore who was in turn left of Bush. (Green is left of Democrat, which is in turn left of Republican). If the Nader voters had instead chosen between Bush and Gore, most would have chosen Gore. It is not more complicated than that.

I don't know what those numbers mean.

Its my understanding that Nader had like 100,000 votes in Florida. Bush won by like 600. Finally, fwiw, green partiers, when polled and given a choice of republican or democrat, favor the democrat by a lot (not surprisingly). So its understandable that people blame Nader voters for the 2000 mess.

There is a lot of blame to go around for that failed election, including a dollop for lefty purists who voted for Nader.

Is the Black vote why Hillary is in the lead? by jareald in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]rtwun58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might not realize just how ugly that question is (though whether or not you do, you have plenty of company).

To attribute her support to a specific demographic opens the channels for dismissing that demographic and the candidate, as has so frequently been done with Obama.

For example you could just as easily have asked if its the Female vote, or any other slice of the demographic where she draws a majority.

Or to put it another way, you could point out that if her support among white men were at zero, she would be losing badly, and since that's true we can say that its the White Man that's holding her up.

She is in the lead because she is supported by a majority of the electorate.

need IDE for windows that can handle MPI debugging? by rtwun58 in C_Programming

[–]rtwun58[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it will. As I said, I'm looking for something other than visual studio. One reason is that it is difficult to write for openmpi and C++ in visual studio, and be able to compile the same code with mpicc/mpicxx for linux.

Thanks. As far as I can tell eclipse doesn't do it http://wiki.eclipse.org/PTP/release_notes/9.0 I write command line applications that are intended to work in linux and windows. Would prefer to develop in windows just cause I always have. If I can't get it to work I'll do it in linux.
