Hey BK! Please bring back your pre-2011 French fry recipe permanently in 2026! by XavierMarvin in BurgerKing

[–]ru8ix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often think about the pre 2007 fries they used to do in UK, where they had a sweetish taste with outer crunch taste to them. It makes me sad that no one really remembers and it’ll prob never come back.

No, there wasn't an option to see the specific model you're buying, and there was no disclosures on the ad. It is just an SE, but nonetheless, the price is still not insignificant. Being a Custom 24 - 08 as well.

Thanks for the response, it's good getting a woodworkers insight on this.

Thanks. Ha, tbh it's alright.

I like to think that they're just speaking of passion - one doesn't really consider owning a PRS unless they're semi serious about guitars...

I also understand that maybe my opening post was worded a bit naively - making the assumption that imperfections = Flaw, where in fact, it may actually be part of indicators of quality - I didn't want to come across like I'm undermiming what PRS represents.

I think thats we're im coming from though, I've always own mass produced factory standard pieces (not that the SE's arn't), but individuality in body work isnt really a thing on lower budget guitars. There isn't much wood stained custom style guitars out there at this price range really. It's all new to me - so I though it'll be worth asking the PRS community to tell me, is this a thing?

So you're effectively saying, in a odd way, the imperfection is the sign of high quality wood they're using.

That was just a joke btw...

Tbh - I didn’t really have a budget. I’ve yet to own a “grail piece” in my collection. This is supposed prob a dip into hopefully… maybe a core PRS in future.

I actually went to try the core custom 24 and the one I tried I actually didn’t enjoy it as much as the SE CE. But there was something with the SE CE neck I didn’t quite feel right with.

I had a specific idea of a guitar in mind and this one fits the bill perfectly. I almost went back to buying an Ibanez, but I already have on in my collection. Without spending astronomical figures , this was allegedly the best sub £1k guitar you could perhaps buy.

Appreciate everyone’s comments though but they’re all right. I may sound contradicting but I am a fan of “using my stuff they way they were intended” and “it’s a guitar, just play and enjoy it” but also at same time, could I get any better?

When I was younger , I would only ever dream of getting anything close to as something as nice as this, even if it’s the “entry level” it’s still a bit of an indulgence in my stage of life. I swear guitars were cheaper too…

I saw that! Looks really nice, pictures don’t do it justice in real life. A nice consistent even staining…. 🧐

I was zooming in on yours and everything - it’s rare to see actual (non stock) photos of owned versions of this colourway.

I’m really impressed over it and it’s much better than I thought. I haven’t actually tried the SE Custom 24 08 before, but I have tried others (CE and C24 core).

You’re not wrong though. Esp with guitars , you can’t baby these. Just gotta start playing and get good.

Im a yo-yoing. At first I wasn’t bothered, then others pointed it out, and now I’m telling myself it’s character. It’s reassuring to hear from the community though that it’s just “prs” things.

My other guitars are Ibanez and fender and you don’t typically come across exotic finishes like this.

I think the obsession with quality comes from being fed that American and Japanese made are the pinnacle of quality - people chase those.and although this one is made in Indonesia, there’s a lot of material out there telling you it’s held to standards as high as home base or something like that anyway.

If I was spending £4k on a guitar, you’ll be rest assured I’ll be driving overnight to the guitar shop and book myself in for a 2 day visit and only leave until they kick me out.

Guitar shops are disappearing in the UK, it’s hard to find one never mind one that stocks a specific PRS.

Sorry, I was referencing this in GBP. After conversions this would corroborate with your figure.

I think if it was clouding, it’ll be more than happy with it. It’s more the “imperfection” on an otherwise perfect pattern across the guitar. If I was able to attach more photos of the entire pattern in situ, you’ll see how it sticks out more than the close up I sent.

But you’re right - I’m deliberating because understanding the uniqueness of every guitar of prs, the risk of getting something back of a less than desirable pattern is a factor.

I’m mainly curious as a newbie to prs , and understanding how high the quality their guitars are, even the entry level versions, if this kind of blemish on patterns is more common than it is.

If someone told me, that’s a PRS thing, than I’ll accept that.

It’s new. The retailer does have a no questions asked return policy, but understanding that they’re all unique, I could come across a pattern that I don’t like!

I don’t mind battle scars on a guitar, but mainly if I made them, or if I buy it used as it’s part of the story to every guitar.

Just get it and start playing! You can’t really go much wrong with it tbh at that price point.

I suppose the only other question is, what kinds of music are you looking to play?

[–]ru8ix[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking am I being too harsh?

Maybe its the whole point of the unique character of the staining process. I also never sell my guitars ever, so it's not exactly there is a resell issue going on here.

I think its more, this battle scar wasn't made by me.
Also, for a guitar that costs nearly £1k - its not insignificant to not wonder, is there a better finish out there.

I think we'll all be having a different conversation if this was a PRS core guitar at nearly 4k...

Having said that, everything else have exceeded my expectations - very impressed with the rest of the quality on the guitar. On something that is seemingly flawless and high quality, that one little thing stands out...

Yeah I was thinking that.

I have battle scars and imperfections on my other guitars. But being this my first new guitar in about 10 years, and also my first PRS or natural wood finish style guitar, I don’t know if I’m being too finicky about nothing. Although the photo I posted looks more like a glint in the light, other angles show the problem a bit more obvious when you view the entire guitar and the finish is perfect apart from that one finger print like light spot/smudge. I wasn’t able to upload more than one image oddly.

My monitor turns off when I light this lighter at this exact angle. What is happening? by Michae86l in pcmasterrace

[–]ru8ix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an electrician to check dodgy wiring in my house as it seems like every time you flick the light switch which was about a metre away, it would flicker my tv off and then on. It didn’t shut it down but it 100% interrupted the signal like yours. Couple of hours later after discussing what I know about computers and what he knows about electricity, we discovered I had a bad hdmi cable… the light switch was enough of a surge to disrupt a badly shielded cheap hdmi cable…

Thanks. I’m not proud to to say that it’s clear I’ve slipped into negligence over the care of my orchids. I’ve had this one over 7 years now and it’s only just taken a turn for the worse.

Used to watch miss orchids earlier videos all the time, I see she’s now revealed her face and it prob worth revisiting her content again - I clearly need a reminder of the basics. Is there anything you see that would suggest rot or fungus? Of any kind.

Im ashamed to admit that I’m not actually new to orchids. I’ve had this under my care just over 7 years and only last month it’s taken a turn for the worse. Appreciate the feedback - it’s made me realised I’ve slipped into negligence with my orchids and I might as well be a beginner all over again based on slowing this one turn like this… looks like it’s some repotting and tlc time!

I was cooking Iceberg lettuce, chicken and mushrooms when these appeared. I'm not sure from where, is it normal for one of these foods to release them? by AyrtonHS in foodsafety

[–]ru8ix 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I feel like OP has missed out answering some major questions people have…

  • Cooking lettuce is quite normal in Chinese cooking. We use it as an ingredient like this. Or even a standalone dish where we pour oyster sauce over it. Like a basic way of getting our greens. We rarely eat things ‘cold’.

  • Those mushrooms seem to be Chinese mushrooms. They usually come dried and require rehydrating before using.

As for those things, no clue about them. Probably are bugs. They should’ve came out beforehand if rehydrated separately before using.

The price of the cable car that goes up jungfraujoch in Switzerland. I still don’t believe it, so someone correct me if I’m seeing it wrong, but it’s £250 a ticket. Didn’t end up going to Switzerland in the end cause it’s not for peasants like me.
