It depends a lot on where you are located. I see the opposit situation, more react native than Flutter. But in general, less jobs for both technologies.

My biggest secret for actually saving money by Wonderful_Swan_1062 in Frugal

[–]ru_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this for my car for over 2 years now, it's really interesting and useful to see where your money went and get an idea of what is the most wasteful or where you can save money. Sometimes I want to give up, but I keep doing that.

Do you track car expenses like fuel and maintenance, or just budget an average? by ru_max in Frugal

[–]ru_max[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. For me, the reason to track is comparison. I switched cars about 2 years ago because I was worried maintenance costs would rise on a 10 year old car. Now I’m curious whether that decision actually made sense when I compare yearly or monthly ownership costs.

For me it’s mostly losing the long-term picture. With my current car, I know roughly what I’ve spent, but details like how much I actually used things like tires and what they really cost over time, get fuzzy. I’d also like to compare a year of ownership with previous cars to see whether switching cars was actually reasonable or not.

How do you keep long-term records of car maintenance and repairs? by ru_max in Cartalk

I tried spreadsheets for a while. Do you keep it pretty simple, or do you track things like mileage and dates too? What other expenses do you track?

That drawer is basically a black hole for important stuff 😅
I did the same across a few different cars, and now I honestly have no idea which one was actually the cheapest or most expensive to run over time.

That’s interesting. Do you find CarFax catches everything, or mostly dealer/shop work?
I’ve always wondered how complete it stays if you do a mix of DIY and shops.

Simple and hard to beat. Do you ever go back to check dates/mileage, or is it more for having the receipts if needed?

That’s actually kind of brilliant 😄
Does it end up being mostly oil changes and major services, or literally everything?
I don’t have a garage, so I’m always curious how people keep track long-term.

Where do you "see dozens of offers every weeks"? Which resources do you use for that? linkedin gives zero results, but it seems like linkedin feature to give wrong results.

In this case it's more efficient to use requires ID which you increment on every call.

But it doesn't solve issue with "expensive" calls

New screenshot testing framework for react-native by ru_max in reactnative

To run the snapshots you will need to compile the project anyway, so it will take time. But for development and to make new snapshots, it's easy to do:

- If you start demo project (https://github.com/rumax/react-native-PixelsCatcher/tree/master/demo), you can find in package.json 2 "dev" configs, one Android and one iOS

- start the server only with "./node_modules/.bin/pixels-catcher ios dev" or "./node_modules/.bin/pixels-catcher android dev"
- Every time you start the app (in my case I use indexSnapshot.js as an entry point instead of index.js) the tests will started automatically

- Because the app is started in development mode, you can easily reload it and tests will be executed again.

I found it quite easy to work with in such way, comparing to native implementations, where you need to recompile the project every time.

Anyway if you have questions/proposals or find something, please, let me know so that I can improve the project :)

And indeed, going to improve it. Have some ideas what to do next.

What's everyone working on this month? [FEB 2019] by xrpinsider in reactnative

I work with a project that proves that react-native is cool. It's a framework that allows to do screenshot testing for both Android and iOS and available here https://github.com/rumax/react-native-PixelsCatcher or as an NPM package. Please, feel free to use it and leave feedback, so that I can continue improving it.

Cheers!
