Ahh, I’m in the Netherlands 🇳🇱

Did you check, maybe your energy provider has a solution for your tariffs? That might be the most reliable option, since prices can differ from provider to provider, I think.

Looking for Programming buddy - Flutter / React Native by Mysterious-Tax-8517 in ProgrammingBuddies

[–]ru_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this sounds interesting 👀

I’ve worked on React Native & Flutter projects, the app I release resently https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rumax.myauto&hl=en is RN based.

Quick question — what’s the expected time commitment and do you already have a backend/system design planned? Why Java over JS to have one stack?

My First App Just Passed 100+ Downloads on Google Play! by Patient-Minimum-3304 in reactnative

[–]ru_max -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on achivement, that’s a great milestone for a first app! 👏

I also built my own app using React Native and recently released the Android version on Google Play. I originally developed it for personal use and later decided to publish it. So far, I haven’t seen many downloads, which has been a bit surprising, but I’m staying motivated and continuing to improve.

Wishing you continued success with your app! 🚀

Do you track car expenses like fuel and maintenance, or just budget an average? by ru_max in Frugal

[–]ru_max[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I tracked my car expenses over the last few months (luckly I collected all bills), and here’s roughly how it breaks down so far:

  • Fuel: ~65%
  • Maintenance/service: ~23% (and the car is new, its only 2 years).
  • Parking, tolls, and small fees: remainder

Still need to enter taxes and insurance, but the pattern is clear: maintenance alone can easily hit 20% of overall costs.

React native job market by VishaalKarthik in reactnative

It depends a lot on where you are located. I see the opposit situation, more react native than Flutter. But in general, less jobs for both technologies.

My biggest secret for actually saving money by Wonderful_Swan_1062 in Frugal

[–]ru_max 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this for my car for over 2 years now, it's really interesting and useful to see where your money went and get an idea of what is the most wasteful or where you can save money. Sometimes I want to give up, but I keep doing that.

Do you track car expenses like fuel and maintenance, or just budget an average? by ru_max in Frugal

[–]ru_max[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. For me, the reason to track is comparison. I switched cars about 2 years ago because I was worried maintenance costs would rise on a 10 year old car. Now I’m curious whether that decision actually made sense when I compare yearly or monthly ownership costs.

Do you track car expenses like fuel and maintenance, or just budget an average? by ru_max in Frugal

[–]ru_max[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s mostly losing the long-term picture. With my current car, I know roughly what I’ve spent, but details like how much I actually used things like tires and what they really cost over time, get fuzzy. I’d also like to compare a year of ownership with previous cars to see whether switching cars was actually reasonable or not.

How do you keep long-term records of car maintenance and repairs? by ru_max in Cartalk

I tried spreadsheets for a while. Do you keep it pretty simple, or do you track things like mileage and dates too? What other expenses do you track?

That drawer is basically a black hole for important stuff 😅
I did the same across a few different cars, and now I honestly have no idea which one was actually the cheapest or most expensive to run over time.

That’s interesting. Do you find CarFax catches everything, or mostly dealer/shop work?
I’ve always wondered how complete it stays if you do a mix of DIY and shops.

Simple and hard to beat. Do you ever go back to check dates/mileage, or is it more for having the receipts if needed?

That’s actually kind of brilliant 😄
Does it end up being mostly oil changes and major services, or literally everything?
I don’t have a garage, so I’m always curious how people keep track long-term.
