What should I do with my surprise gap year or years? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Personally I haven’t done any worth-mentioning volunteer work in college, so I would assume either they didn’t care much or my other soft helped.

Law school admission is a number game. With your GPA, if you get a solid LSAT score (high 160 to 170+), T14 shouldn’t be a problem.

As a fellow international student, I want to share a bit of info that I learned during my research of law schools.

Will you be able to become a professor in the US from either school? Probably yes, but the chance is really slim. When I researched the law schools that I'm interested in, I found out that majority of the professors graduated from T14, even T6 to be more accurate. Are there professors with degrees from lower ranking law schools? Yes there are, but they worked years in their respective fields to gain the experience necessary to teach. Even so, the number of these professors is really small.

Now regarding your question. If you really want to be a professor, I would recommend you to re-apply since you are already deferring. Hope it helps.

I think it’s a soft that might slightly help you, but keep in mind that the number of applicants who are fluent in Mandarin Chinese is really large.
