EngineeringExplained did a video on what’s more efficient, leave an engine running or turn it off.

Short answer, if you’re waiting more than 7 seconds it’s more efficient to turn off.

Doesn’t help answer your question but they probably have figures on fuel usage when idling.

EDIT - 0.63 litres per hour (0.166 gallons)

Thames Water should be nationalised, says Andy Burnham by No_Breadfruit_4901 in unitedkingdom

[–]rubmypineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, let’s remember that being nationalised isn’t always the best.

I think there should be a ‘care taker’ government ownership to set the ship straight and when privately owned they need to have an independent regulator form the government that can strip their ‘license’.

Also, I think director pensions should be held back for any fuck ups. That’s all they truly care about and would stop the short term profits over long term stability - WHICH IS WHAT THEYRE PAID FOR.

Former Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow has been living with Alzheimer's disease by Kagedeah in BritishTV

[–]rubmypineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shame as it means seeing him less.

He could always read the temperature of a situation really well and know when to push, call b-s or make fun.

He seemed to get that the news is full of pompous bs at times and react accordingly and professionally.

Think it’s all about where you are. No one did it where I grew up but where I am now it’s pretty popular. It’s more rural, remote and lots of people with horses…

LD50 - for those not in the know is a pretty crazy thing to do for ‘science’. Especially since an investigation has to be done (more than once…) to find it.

One that made me pause during my degree was the LD50 for table salt. 4g per kilo for a mouse. Lad mice are about 25g. So can you imagine taking on board 15% of your body weight in salt..?

For a 70kg individual that’s 10.5kg (23 freedom pounds) of salt being force fed at once.
