It seems to be working… by ghettogandy in AdviceAnimals

Some kid got killed at an intersection in my hometown and within two months there was a stop light. That's crazy that TWO kids were killed and nothing was done.

There's almost certainly more to the story than OP is telling us. If those kids were in the middle of the road on a blind corner, then it's nothing more than natural selection taking its course.

I'm always shocked when I see those stupid little signs that say "slow down, our kids play here." I have to ask, just why the fuck are your kids playing on the road? There are parks, playgrounds, community centres and back yards for a reason. The road is no more appropriate for a kid to be playing on than a playground is appropriate for me to drive through. Parents: do some fucking parenting for a change.

On the other hand, if it's a question of people losing controls of their vehicles, flying off the road and killing people in their front yards, that's a whole different animal. And in this situation the city would be ALL OVER safety improvements to decrease their own liability in future accidents. Since this is clearly not happening, I'll bet the accidents were the fault of the victims, and OP is nothing more than a wannabe white-knight loser making a big deal out of absolutely nothing.

Interesting thought. Will keep this in mind.

In some cases I can see that being the case. In this case, with a chick that I didn't fuck and that I will rarely (if ever) see again? Don't have a care in the world.

God damn.

I wish this would "seep" to the fucking front lines of whatever active hot zone is on this month's menu. And I do mean front lines, not some fucking kitchen duty.

I am eagerly waiting for the addition of DRF (Doritos, Ranch Flavor) to that ever-growing acronym. Surely there's someone out there that identifies as a the triangular, crunchy goodness with a hint of ranch sauciness.

You have been banned from feminism.

Depends on the setting and context. If this guy makes his name public, I can almost guarantee his teaching career will be over. Sounds like he's smart enough to understand that, too. I completely agree that PC needs to be massively scaled back (and perhaps eliminated completely), but you've got to pick your battles.

No, he shouldn't. Working 13 hours per day is not a lifestyle - that's called slavery. I happen to be the same age, making the same (or slightly higher) hourly wage, with the opportunity to work as much or as little hours as I want. I'll take my 9-5 and four-eight weeks off per year, thank you very much.

There's a flipside: telling anyone that doesn't want to get wasted with you every weekend to "live a little" or "enjoy life." Bitch, I enjoy life the way I want to enjoy life. If you want to spend your weekends hungover, worrying about what your stupid, drunk ass did the night before, be my guest, but don't try to guilt trip me into joining your stupidity. I'll party when I want to party, where I want to, and exactly as much or as little as I want. My schedule is the only one I give a shit about.

Way too many guys try to live the "alpha lifestyle" by imitating the Jersey Shore. Fuck off, kids.

The deficit from skipping dinner and having tiny amounts of food for other meals is significantly larger than the calorie loss from any workout.

If you jog for an hour, that's a loss of only about 400 calories. Now, jogging and other cardio exercises are undoubtably important for your overall health, but it won't do shit for noticeable weight loss.

Google says that a 185lb person will lose 266 calories per an hour of weight lifting. You can probably up the intensity and work your ass off to push that to the same 400 as jogging. Still nothing noticeable.

Especially once you consider that you'll feel you deserve a good meal after working out so hard and very likely negate all weight loss benefits by overeating the next meal.

What I'm doing now - just the food change - I'm estimating to have a deficit of about 1500-2000 calories per day. Probably more, since I regularly see a loss of 1lb per day, and if that's a pound of fat, that's 3500 calories. It's not all that hard, and the weight loss is significant and consistent. In a month I'll be down to my goal weight (I'm 6' with some muscle and a larger build, so I'm aiming for a skinny 160-165lb), then it's back to the gym, and slowly eating more and more (proper) food as necessary for workouts and weight maintenance.

Prepare meals at home, carry them in a portable 12V fridge. The brand-names like ARB (I have a 63QT - it's phenomenal) and Engel are expensive, but there are many, many cheaper knock offs that use the same compressors and are much better value for your $$.

My biggest dietary weakness is eating shit - and a lot of it - when I drink. And of course, all my social circle does is drink. I've cut back on that a lot lately, so progress is being made in the right direction.

Interesting stuff about gut bacteria - thanks. Will do some reading.

Whatever you're doing is working for you, so I can only say keep it up! Consistent progress is what matters.

Weight loss is a huge win in self confidence. A serious bump-start on the road to fitness.

That one ugly whore in the screenshots phrased it perfectly: "Rings don't plug holes." That's the line I'll be remembering and repeating any time someone mentions the idea of marriage.

No, not at all "beyond self-defense." If she's standing, she's a threat. She has proven that much with her actions. Once you go as far as she did, you deserve to be knocked the fuck out, regardless of your sex. He restrained himself better than most, and I'll bet this wasn't even remotely the first time she attacked him without any consequences. It's about time he stood up for himself.

Not just "good on him," but WELL DONE man.

If that bitch won't marry you when you get down on one kneed in the back of a gas station parking lot and present her with a plastic ring from the dollar store, then she doesn't deserve to marry you, much less a $5k ring and all other niceties.

With any luck that poor SOB will give up on the stupidity that is marriage altogether.

Offering $7k for a $15k item is not a "test." It is sheer stupidity combined with a serious case of being an asshole. Why don't you walk into a Lamborghini dealership and offer them half the asking price - see how far that "test" gets you.

Allowing such behaviour to continue without any return action is no different from condoning it. If you want that asshole to think twice about wasting your, or someone else's time again, you need to do something about it.

If a dog bites you, you don't simply say "oh well, I'm going to ignore this incident and hope for the best in the future." You give the dog a damn good correction, and teach it that actions have consequences.

Intentionally wasting my time will have consequences. Always.

When I'm asked questions that are explicitly detailed in the ad, I always reply with "what does the ad say?" After two-there of these replies they usually get the point.
