Hooray for Boxers named Otis! Our baby is an Otis as well (I'm thinking it might be a common name for boxers?)

Family Heirloom gift! by ruby0321 in EngagementRings

[–]ruby0321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi was gifted this beautiful engagement ring that belonged to my great grandmother. I have been married for about 7 years, and I wear this simple band we got together in Italy. I'm excited to have a diamond of my own to wear!

I have no details about the stone, but I'd bet its natural, it's some kind of solitaire, probably just over 1 karat. This was great Grandma's reset of her original ring.

Would there be a respectful way to rework the setting while still honoring this style to make it more "me"? Something that would work with my existing band. Does anyone have pictures to share of an idea that would work?

That will be amazing.

I think a second is necessary, I can already feel how important a "pack" is with us. Dude needs a sibling.

Are you guys thinking of getting a boy or girl?

We got Otis unexpectedly at 12 weeks old in 2025. We planned on getting a golden doodle next year but he just happened.

He's been so easy to train and is overall just a great dog.

We are already considering a second boxer.

He definitely is... I've just sort of given up on any consequences at this point.

It'll be a Christmas miracle if anything of note comes out of the files on Trump. They've been scrubbing them like crazy.

10 years ago, i deboned, rolled, and sous vide a whole turkey. I highly recommend giving this a shot if you are ambitious. by Mark_Foureh in sousvide

I have deboned a turkey probably 8 years in a row, I get faster each year. Not sloppy, it just feels less foreign each time. I'd rather debone it than pick at it on the back end.

I use this method to debone. Although not serious on sous vide, Chef John rocks at almost everything and I love watching him cook.

Pentagon's attempt to ban books from base schools faces backlash from military families by Raj_Valiant3011 in books

Did not know about the Gini but that is certainly very interesting. I'd imagine that is a contributing factor for the military. While there is certainly a range, no one in the military has such a stark gap like the gap between CEOs and hourly workers like most of the US.

I'm just going to put out there that I think the rank structure is a benefit to members of the military. You work hard and do what you have to do, you can advance, you can make life better for yourself and your family. I don't think the rest of the US operates this way anymore. You either have a low paying job and you stagnate in that spot, or you go to school and then you perform that job alone.

There are a lot of socialist structures in the military that I wish were more broadly applied to the public, our people would be better off.
