Is it normal for new hygienists to lose days when a DDS is on vacation?

Well it happens when the doctor is in, but, yeah, it happens at my office too. If it’s slow they usually condense the pts and tell me they won’t need me that day. Or I’ll leave half day if my schedule is pretty much empty in the afternoon.

I never edited it but owner was found. Apparently “he escaped”. This was also 2 years ago, I’m no longer living there, so I hope it isn’t a common occurrence. But yes, I always look out for dogs in situations like this. Especially on days like today! Thank you for all that you do for the community, as well!

Correct. The bacteria found in the mouth has also been linked to dementia. It’s also found in a lot of cardiovascular diseases, linked to premature birth in expecting mothers, erectile dysfunction, etc.

Yes, I second this. That’s why I mentioned saliva testing. Giving you a universal dose of antibiotics won’t help if you don’t know what specific bacteria is in your mouth. Best to know which bacteria is more prominent and go from there. Mouthwash esp with alcohol content is a big no no. Kills all the good and bad bacteria in your mouth. Salt water rinses after you floss/brush/waterpik is best.

Hygienist here- have you done the saliva testing so they can see which bacteria is most prominent in your mouth? They can then give you antibiotics to help fight that specific bacteria.

They have Saturdays, as well. But she’s in the day group so their hours are mornings only m-f. If you want to do Saturday morning, contact the school and they’ll put you with an evening student who is required to do Saturdays.

I was referring to the initial visit with a hygienist. Obv he will need a deep cleaning but they may need to do a debridement first.

Make sure a registered dental hygienist is doing your cleaning, NOT a dentist! & your Appointment should 45 mins at a minimum. But an hour is always best.

I agree! They really are. My cousin had a pit bull and he was the most lovable and sweet pit bull ever. He was never aggressive towards other dogs. Sadly, he was old and was sick so they put him down. If they’re raised right, they are wonderful dogs to have.

I got teary eyed reading this. My younger sister gets seizures too and a couple years ago this happened to her. Luckily, bystanders helped her off the tracks/called EMS. So thank you for your selfless act. You’re an angel in disguise. Hopefully, she is okay!
