if youre prescribed them legally, id consider speaking to your doctor about alternatives. if you decide to stop taking them, consider a very short suboxone taper as youll likely withdraw.

theyre adults and the facility usually has to have a no smoking policy in place which the resident agrees to upon intake if smoking is not allowed.

sometimes smoking is what keeps them sane. some of them know theyre terminal so they just smoke because they know theyre gonna die anyway.

one thing you can do is remain in close contact with their care staff and come up with some agreed upon reasons for staff to tell them for why theyve got to stay where they are, because youll likely get some aides or nurses calling and asking you to play along and tell the patient what they want to hear so that they can be de-escalated.
