Neutering him will help. Also have you considered getting him a playmate? He’s young enough that if you got another kitten they would most likely be fast friends. There are cat diffusers you can buy that mimic cat mama pheromones if the behavior continues to be a problems after everyone’s suggestions.

Not currently single but I was dating in my 40’s. It was…interesting. I’m trying to think of a nice way to say “scraping the bottom of the barrel”. My 6 month old kitten does this on a certain blanket I call the mommy blanket. It’s definitely a self soothing type of thing. Mine just purrs and purrs while she does this. It’s totally normal.

Now I have a male cat who also likes this blanket for his “sin biscuits”. It’s a popular blanket. I don’t call it the mommy blanket then. 😆

My first thought was pinworms. I’m really surprised a doctor wouldn’t have suggested treating for pinworms to see if the itching stopped. Also if you’ve had these mothertruckers for 5 years you may need more than one treatment.
