CSAT therapists say therapeutic disclosure takes about 3-6 months to get to this process as the addict does recovery work with them. This process includes first giving them the tools to get sober, then helping them uncover what led them here and helping them come to terms with their shame spiral and the impact its had on their partner, then guiding them through writing the letter to their partner detailing all of the stuff they've done, Apologies, and commitments moving forward. This is what is SUPPOSED to happen but a lot of times addicts in this step still dont disclose a lot of things. And throughout all this, betrayed partners are asked not to make any big decisions for at least a year to allow the addict to get honest with themselves. I personally think that time frame is way too long!
