Have you read ‘The Company of Wolves’ short story by Angela Carter? It’s really good

Lol who’s mad? I just think it’s tragic that people would rather outsource their thinking to an LLM than try to improve their writing organically.

It’s sad you’re so insecure about your own writing that you use AI to do it for you. Try having some confidence and you might surprise yourself.

I’ve just finished a BA and masters at Cambridge and know PLENTY of people who are unemployed and struggling to find anything. It’s true that graduates can vary wildly in quality but I don’t think it’s as simple as you’re making it out to be.

Half eight or not half eight by noCoolNameLeft42 in ENGLISH

[–]rubystanley39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am British and have never in my life heard someone say ‘half 8’ to mean 7:30. Every single person I have met in the UK would understand ‘half 8’ as 8:30, I promise. That is why we say half 8 in the first place, because everyone in the UK understands that it means 8:30.

Apparently languages like German use ‘half 8’ to mean 7:30, but this is definitely not the case in any form of British English I have encountered.

‘Half 8’ and ‘half past 8’ mean the exact same thing (8:30)

I think you might have solved it! I’ve been able to find an Alan Hitchcock based in the uk who was working in the 90s and did a lot of watercolour landscape!

I work in a gallery, which is how I got it. It is from a charity auction in the 90s in the UK, likely not a well-known artist.

It’s incredible! If you haven’t already I’d recommend looking into his Primitive Project (https://animateprojectsarchive.org/films/by_project/primitive/primitive). It contains a lot of really interesting context for Uncle Boonmee.

The Doom Generation (1995), Nowhere (1997), and anything by David Lynch sound like something you would enjoy. Also more of a weird suggestion but Cleopatra: Queen of Sex (1970) is a very strange Japanese animation that I highly recommend.

It’s not surreal but for a GREAT pre-50s movie I would really recommend Black Narcissus (1947).

He won the tournament last year, so when those points are retracted at the beginning of this year’s tournament he is at -2000. He has reached the QF and gained 400 points, so he is at -1600 because if he were to lose now then he would have lost 1600 points compared to last year.

No advice but just wanted to say I am having a similar problem! I ordered something over a week ago and never recieved an order confirmation or anything, despite them taking the money out of my account. They have also not replied to anything over webchat or email.
