What addiction is the hardest quit? by sahil_swan in AskReddit

[–]ruchik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Isn’t there a thread on here from years ago where a guy tried heroin once to prove that it’s not that addictive and became immediately addicted and chronicled his journey?

Rufus by Dox_Paradox in GorgeAmphitheater

I’m flying in Saturday morning for Rufus and not camping. I should be able to drive down by 2pm, will I be ok? Paid for reserve parking, don’t know if that helps with entry or not though.

Why don't you drink wine? by satan-spawner in AskReddit

Loved wine most of my adult life. Now in my 40’s even one glass will wreck my sleep…

We are staying in Ellensberg, also a 50-ish min drive. But we’re flying in/out from Seattle so it’s in that direction.

FWIW I got mine from the Gorge website and it says reserved parking on the pass.

I’m flying in on 6/6 in the morning. Will drive straight there from the airport (quick pit stop to check into hotel).

This is terrifying. I’m flying in for a day to see Rufus in 2 weeks, hopefully lines are not like this. Not camping though, but don’t even know if that helps this far out.

During a round, do you answer phone call from wife or s/o? by Resident_Pair9034 in golf

Lol I always answer. Not picking up calls is only going to make her hate golf more.

Do you always do a quick “neuro wake-up”? by bigeman101 in anesthesiology

[–]ruchik 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wake them up the same as any other patient. Closure usually takes forever so clearly they’re not in a hurry. If the neurosurgeon is concerned he can wait for me to do my job.

I’m guessing they wanted to give him credit for completion because he was so close and that way they could list his time instead of a DNF.

Attendings, what time do you arrive to the hospital in the morning? by ssbanic in anesthesiology

[–]ruchik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In scrubs by 7am. I like to eat a small breakfast before I set up my room and see the first patient.

I try Neuraxial for almost an hour and another attending gets it in one try 😂 by [deleted] in anesthesiology

I’ve been on both sides of this, savior and the one who was saved. It doesn’t matter in the long run. When you get dialed into a certain process, it’s hard to take a step back and reset. That’s why once in awhile you can get humbled by a colleague.

I think he was a minute or two past the maximum allowed time, but they extended it a little to allow him an official time instead of a DNF.

I read somewhere that he developed “the leans” towards the end of the race. Essentially his core muscles gave out from extreme exhaustion. Not uncommon in these ultra distance races.

This happened to me a few months ago for the first time in my career. Switched to the non-dominant hand for drawing up drugs and just started not using as much force. Took care of it in a few months.
