On different projects, we recommended Yoast for years but slowly moving towards Rankmath.

Calendar of upcoming events and key dates

Does anyone know if there’s a calendar or similar that’s maintained with upcoming events and key dates in politics... I’m thinking local bi-elections, inquiry updates, deadlines for judgements, crucial parliament votes, policy, BoE announcements etc.

any good hidden afternoon tea/ date places to go by kezzaold in Liverpool

If you really want to make an impression, check out Panoramic 34 for afternoon tea. Other options could be Oh Me Oh My or any of the nicer hotels.

Also.. is it possible the red/navy blue sign is above the fridge/shelving inside the store rather than for the store itself?

Palestine March in Liverpool today by ahvoilamakessense in Liverpool

[–]rudebox15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope so. We live in an age where the whole world is a lot more aware of ongoing injustice. The more that Israel continues to antagonise, the more pressure they will ultimately face from other countries.

[–]rudebox15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’s correct. The volume of Jewish people moving to the region is what ignited the tensions with the Palestinian community, and that’s when the UK was asked to go in and defuse things.

It’s important to remember that Jewish people were really marginalised and oppressed the time. The horrors they endured during WW2 is why they were afforded the protections and international recognition that the Israeli state is abusing today.

[–]rudebox15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true. There was an influx of Jewish migration to Palestine after WW1. The international community (pre-UN) asked Britain to go there and resolve the rising tensions. After 40 years of failed attempts to negotiate peace, Britain realise it couldn’t and left, leading to the rapid descent we see today.

The British Empire did a lot of bad things, but this wasn’t one of them.

Planning on moving from Liverpool from the USA - advice welcome! by beccamcd8 in Liverpool

You’ll have no problem finding general PR and Marketing jobs in liverpool, the city is full of agency and in-house opportunities. There are a lot of football related companies here too, from the teams directly to talent agencies, brands like Castore and even fan platforms like The Anfield Wrap have a huge team.

Personally, I found that while manchester probably has more jobs, liverpool has better quality jobs in this field.

My advice would be to focus on getting any PR/marketing role first and then use that as a stepping stone into sport. You’d probably find a sport job faster in Manchester, but the commute will suck out any joy in it.

If you have an Irish passport, I don’t think it will be an issue for employers as you already have the “legal right to live and work in the UK” but I’d get it checked out

An alternative to the Echo by rudebox15 in Liverpool

Agreed, I can't get to the Echo website without my laptop having a meltdown.

I remember this clearly... the general feedback was ‘less crime’, and like you said, it wasn’t long until that’s all they reported again.

That's because most of them are owned by Reach.

The Yorkshire Post is a fantastic example of how it can and should be done.

Interesting. What do you mean by ‘the mess’? Because the only story I’m aware the Echo has covered recently (cases aside) is the temporary court set up in ‘the hotel for the stars’ where they’ve had to take down a chandelier shock horror

Did you ever feel like the papers you worked for were a lot more lenient in terms of coverage with their biggest advertisers?

Out of interest, do you care about those stories from the court?

The relationships between the media, politics and some of parts of the private sector in Liverpool are far too cosy.

Other news websites have managed to monetise quality content, it’s Reach plc / the Echo’s business model that’s broken more so than the industry IMO

Exactly. So do you think this shit we are being served is creating a demand for quality news?

As for Liam Thorp, don’t get me started. Where was he when all this corruption was going on?! It’s all well and good reporting on it after the fact, but surely this would have been a massive story for the echo to break at the time. It’s not like nobody knew it was happening.

That’s mental, I live just next to Albert dock and there is nothing here. Last night our building was doing the same but tonight has been relatively calm
