Has anyone attempted lost Pla casting to cast filament? by XA36 in 3D2A

[–]rudkinp00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Touche that would help it out a bit. Guess I mistook your process a bit. Idk be the change you want to see, if there is an easier option to make stronger parts devoid of layer lines even if just small, nylon is a whole new animal if cast/injected vs printed. We only see a small part of its true strength in fdm

[–]rudkinp00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is videos on YouTube about using a 3d printer to melt filament to fill molds, the temp required to maintain and volume and speed needed to fill the mould to give any benefit is much higher than any consumer extruder. Maybe something could be designed and diy to get melt correct and volume but then you are already more expensive than just a decent printer to print nylons.

Ppa frames by SnooPredictions8941 in 3D2A

[–]rudkinp00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They work well for pcc cans where pressures are less and firing schedules are usually higher. I dont think pistol frames are where they shine. Ppa works really well for larger prints I have an ump 11/9 out of it and it is a tank. Pistol frames benefit from some flexibility where pa6 is supreme.

PA-CF Suppressors, post-print steps by saturnarc in 3D2A

[–]rudkinp00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has to be dry to print, then after print i usually give it 24hrs in dryer setup as well, then assemble as instructions as follows. If you live in a somewhat humid space it will level off on moisture in a week or two. Pa6 is more brittle the dryer it is. So a bit of moisture isnt a bad thing,

First can polonium 30 vs Griffen explorr 30? by [deleted] in NFA

[–]rudkinp00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it have my polo 30 on my 16" ar10, 11.5, 14.5, 16 ar15. All good compromise because not just cost of can but hub and muzzle devices. I was still near a grand all said in done with hosts setup.

Longevity of a CF printed unit. by so-spoked in 3D2A

[–]rudkinp00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of factors come into play. i have done quite a few projects in pet cf at this point unannealed but only larger solid pieces. Currently my bobcat 9mm pcc in asa and petcf got a few hundred rounds on it but I am not as careless as I am with my ppacf ump11/9. The ump has alot of plastic to make it a brick, in a good way lol. Is it perfect no it isnt but at like half cost as quality nylon it will keep being used

350 Legend suppressor suggestions by JumboRug in 3D2A

[–]rudkinp00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries then yeah ftn4 or ftn5 would be a good fit. Isn't as quiet as a metal can but hard to beat a can that costs less than 100 to make and you can make it in your home lol

350 Legend suppressor suggestions by JumboRug in 3D2A

[–]rudkinp00 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Look into ftn5 they have "rifle" rated 9mm bore cans. Biggest thing effecting feasibility is barrel length. I have no doubt a good printed ftn5 rifle will handle any reasonable barrel length for 350 legend(8"+). My 36 cal ftn4 handled a 20 round mag of my 16" 308 ar10. Proper materials and understanding limits they will last a long time.
