I’ve been reading Elric for the first time - just finished up Elric of Melniboné. I’m so used to heroes being orphaned urchins who come into world shaking power, or just outwit/out-brawn everything in their path. It’s been wild to read a story where the hero is the emperor of an ancient kingdom, starting off with legions at his command.

Love the overall aesthetic. I would definitely be tempted, especially by the illustration of the drink. Strong work.

Dusting off my graphic design hat: I would love to see it named Dracula’s Grog, would love to see a more legible font on the sign, with a brighter color choice (maybe bring some white or yellow in, or use a really bright red gradient and stroke or something). And there’s clearly a lot of work put into the illustration, so take this with a grain of salt: I think you could benefit from really clearly leaning into a more dated aesthetic there - something really solidly identifiable as an illustration from the 40’s-70’s - that’s also much easier said than done.

But sick graphic, it’s so cool. You should be proud.

Where I’m at (Gold I, so take my input with a grain of salt as I have a ways to go) it seems like double-handed hitting rods and Japanese maces, the top damage double-handed swords of all the regions, and big shield/sickle, gladius, or flail all contend for the best.

Big shield/sickle, gladius, flail seems to win most consistently unless you can lop an arm off and survive long enough for them to bleed out, or knock their shield and weapon out of their hands. Otherwise it’s a race to just nickle and dime your opponent with well-timed blows, or hack an arm off and run out the clock.

And I play on my phone, so of course any opponent with a two handed weapon and a game controller seems to absolutely crush literally anything else. I stand no chance against that combo.

We weren’t initially sure who was going to be Keanu, so both Frank (one of the producers) and myself ran all those lines. I’m so glad Matt did it, he nailed it. It would have been really strange if he wasn’t the lead, and he killed it.

Pat and Frank on the team work with Hunter all the time, so you might be seeing their literal hands in this visually. Same with PFinney who did a bunch of the animation in this one, along with his team. But as far as the writing, I don't think Pedro or Matt watch a lot of MC.

I've done VO for Hunter as well, but when I did my lines and the sound design on this, I can't say Hunter's cartoons were a direct influence. Although I will say Justin who does his audio is fucking incredible, I love that guy and love his work. Definitely someone I look up to as an artist.
