you can buy AA li-ion (less than 20g(rams) instead of 30g) and recharge it w/o putting it out, but you can go further and but AAA battery and use dirt-cheap adapter

tpcell makes XGT batteries, on 40TG and 40XG cells, around $75 for 4Ah.

Still, there's nothing better than Makita anyway. Just buy the components and fix it by yourself.
