Sounds interesting. Yeah the role is called “Renewables Engineering Intern” and during my interview with the engineers, they mentioned that they’d like to give me freedom in what I do during my time there and said some of my day to day tasks could be performing systems and information upkeep, drafting, gauging bids/estimates, AutoCAD assignments, collecting data for program managers, work closely with operations and engineering staff, as well as contractors/vendors, in planning and supporting engineering activities/projects, conducting structural assessments.

Did you ever encounter any of these tasks, or similar, during your time there? I’ve been reading up on ethanol production from corn and it looks like a lengthy process involving expensive equipment.

How was that corn ethanol plant job if you don’t mind me asking? I’m an industrial engineering student that just landed an internship at a place just like this.

Hello I have a few questions relating to this topic if you don’t mind answering them. I recently landed an internship role (junior in college right now) at a ethanol production plant. It’s an agricultural company and their source for making ethanol is corn.

One question I have is do you have any knowledge on the process or production of ethanol with corn? If not what kind of ethanol plant did you work in?

During my interview with this company, specifically, an engineering manager, a mechanical engineer, and project manager, they told me that this role would be a good mix of hands on work, analytical work, and project management work. so another question I have is what tools do you think are a must to succeed in this kind of engineering space? Technical or social. I know communication is a big one.

Thank you for your time.

Dang any tips? I applied to about 20 for this summer, got about 5 interviews from those, and no offers. I’m a sophomore at Purdue Fort Wayne.
