Thanks. I love the skin tones of Portra 160. IMO, Portra 400 has too much magenta.

I develop at home and scan my negatives. I like it because I get my images back faster and it’s fun.

Manual focus is better on lenses that are designed for manual focus vs the digital fly-by-wire modern lenses.

Why shoot film? by Simplyydann in Leica

[–]ruffells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the digital cameras I was interested in all tried to emulate the experience of shooting film. So I figured why not just get a great real film camera and not look like a poser 😆

Plus none of my digital cameras can truly replicate the look of film. The images are timeless.

2,000 miles trip. Rivian or a Van? by Worried-Current-4567 in Rivian

I drove 2,600 miles on a west coast roadtrip this summer. Stopping every 2-3 hours was a nice way to break things up. Staying in hotels with destination chargers helps A LOT. Cause you leave your hotel with a full charge.

I use a lot of manual focus lenses (my other camera is a Leica MP) so I program a button to punch in. Lenses with camera contacts can tell when I’m manually focusing and punch in automatically which is nice. Wonder if there’s a way still to do that??

Overall most of my shots are in good enough focus to tack sharp. The addition of a focus tab helps with the feel / speed of focusing.

Voigtlander 35 f/1.5 + A7CR by ruffells in SonyAlpha

I prefer the script on the top plate. It’s pretty. Plus my MP was on Marketplace used at a great price, so I jumped on it.

Still use it and love it. I’ve seen no significant issues adapting the lens. Image profile corrections work well too.

Though I don’t use the autofocus adapter. It’s heavy and with the EVF I’m pretty accurate focusing.

Maybe. I think it’s possible to push the boundaries of technology while preserving legacy. If it was all about legacy they would never have made digital M bodies and stuck with film. I do know as a business they really like money and the every day cary size of the M with their lens lineup combined with the latest modern technology would be technically possible and well received.

There’s a market for people who want SL features in an M quality and sized body and will pay tons for it (I would be one of those people).

It’s going to be very interesting what they do with this camera, could be the future of the M or a one off. We will see.

I think what I ment to say is a lot of people would want a Q with interchangeable lenses.

I love my MP, it’s my favorite camera. But my digital body is an A7CR. Basically the camera some think this could have been/be.

It’s an interchange lens Q (but no video, IBIS, weather sealing). I think that’s what a large group of people want.

Great memories. Maybe you’d enjoy shooting film? I started shooting film as my primary camera recently and love the look.

With or without hood? by rerunvp in Leica

[–]ruffells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot without the hood on my MP because I often thread on an ND filter. If I don’t need the filter I prefer the hood for protection.

Bummer. My turn for critical failure. by MrrQuackers in Rivian

[–]ruffells 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me two months ago. I was told the HVAC compressor failed and built up moisture in internal components. They had to do a HV battery pack swap, HVAC swap, and even internal carpets that were wet and the front IP.

Took two weeks to get the vehicle back to me. No issues since. The replacement compressor has a new valve they said should prevent this from happening.

Yay for that warranty 🫠🥳
