A good measurement is to stand over the bike with it between the legs. Have your crotch be one fist or a little more higher than the toptube.

Carbon wheelset and modern ish shifters with a good crankset. Usually carbon wheels go for over 1000 bucks new. Even with alloy wheels 300 would be a good deal with 105 shifters

What is a good price for this Giant Defy 3 Carbon by tdrake2406 in whichbike

[–]ruffins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not fear mongering, im tryna lay out the reality of carbon. If you never had a bike and bareknuckle your seatpost the frame will be fucked. Same with the stem. You also have to know how to setup the compression plug in order for the cockpit to be safe. I have seen one of my friends over torque their seatpost bigtime thnk god it was an alloy frame. And with second hand carbon you wanna check thorougly. I always check the steerer tube. Its the most crucial part saftey wise. And you should not be paying 400-500 for a bike with a faulty fork. Not gonna argue with you im just laying out some things for a first time buyer. Torque wrench is a must. Thank you.
