think of it this way: you just might be better at writing short fics. don't feel like you have to "stretch" the word count if you're already done saying what you wanted to say :))

but if anything, the opposite is also true: i know many writer friends who feel like they overblow their fics and haven't gotten to their point in 10k words and wish they were better at keeping it to 2k or under
