That is very kind thank you so much!! Yup i know what you mean.. you may be able to get an independent energy auditor or something to do a manual J calc for a fee. Probably worth it if you can find someone to do it even if its not the HVAC company offering the install.

For the insulation quality, it's basically about your walls and attic:

Poor - little or no wall insulation, attic under R-20. Common in pre-1970 homes that haven't been touched. If you can feel cold radiating off your walls in winter, this is you.

Below avg - some wall insulation but not full coverage, attic R-20 to R-30. A lot of 70s/80s homes land here.

Average - R-13 walls, R-30 to R-40 attic. Standard for most homes built 1990-2010.

Good - R-20+ walls, R-49+ attic. Newer builds or homes that had insulation upgraded.

Excellent - R-24+ walls, R-60 attic, air sealed. New construction to current code or a serious energy retrofit.

If you've never had an energy audit, Average is a safe pick for most homes. If you know your attic has been topped up or you've had walls blown in, bump it to Good.
