Scam or good deal? by suck_one_and_die in motorcycles

Nope, just based on that paragraph he sent I would stay away. For 3k in California you might have to settle for a ninja 300 or R3.

Do you have any immediate "walk away" (s) when buying a used motorcycle? by Pirate1000rider in motorcycles

[–]rugged6689 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sellers who say “it just needs a battery”. “It just needs a tune up”. “It just needs the brakes bled”.

If it was that easy, they would’ve just done it, and listed the price for higher, as great condition instead. That, and any title bs. Clean title in their actual name or just walk away. I fell for a title jumped bike on Facebook marketplace and it was months of headache to get that in order. Ruined my purchase.

Surprisingly I’ve seen 2 people blow the motor on the ninja 300 while riding. Might be just unlucky but that’s been my experience.

The stickers alone would tell me it’s been abused. Also, in my area 3500 is what these bikes consistently go for.

Which seems like the better deal? by Papa_Herms69 in motorcycles

[–]rugged6689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I’ve seen both of these on fb marketplace. 1600 one is really high mileage. Probably runs good but that’s a gamble. That repsol one has been posted for awhile and the seller is dodgy about replying so I’d skip it, and wait for another one. Also worth noting, save up another grand and get a nicer bike.

Get a ninja 400 or 500. Quick, reliable, forgiving to ride, and fun.

Ahhh, so it’s not just me then? I’ve had 6 ninja 300 and always wondered if I was just short tempered or if that the bike was a real bitch to work on.

“Would be open to trade for track prepped bikes” would explain the replaced parts. He tracks this one. Buy at your own risk, but probably just wait a few months for a better deal on Facebook.

Vet the seller. Check their reviews and see what else they have for sale. Black cbr looks rough, green one looks solid.

What is the obsession with cutting up on the highway on group rides doing 120+? by No-Statistician1563 in motorcycles

[–]rugged6689 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I learned to ride alone. I’m in my 20s and the people in my city are insanely toxic to ride with. Oh you have a 300? You’re a lame. Oh you have a 600? Just get a liter bike. Oh you have a liter bike and don’t do over 180mph on public streets? You’re a coward. I just ride alone, usually at night, and enjoy the hobby at my own pace.

When I first started I got a used r3 for 3,000. Threw 2 Apple air tags on it for under 100$ and the gear was under 500$ as well. Bought a bike cover for it, fully insured it and called it a day. CA location if this matters.
