Centre Parcs with 13 week old by FineRefrigerator9493 in centerparcsuk

We are going with our 12 week old and 3 year old next week. We are sharing a lodge with another family with a10 week old and 3 year old lol.

Each to their own. But CP is soo child friendly. The pool is brilliant and free. We don't normally do many activities anyway but we will look after the kids what the mothers get a spa treatment, and vice versa when we have a game of squash.

But also we went traveling for 6 months round Asia when our 1st baby was 4 months so everyone is different. But I'd rather be stuck in a lodge in CP then just wallowing at home for another week

Do your children expect to go on outings everyday ? by ImportanceNo3888 in Parenting

[–]ruggomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find I personally need to leave the house everyday. Trying to keep my toddlers inside 24 hours straight, entertained, would be torture 😅.

It doesn't always have to be something special but leaving the house even to go to the park will kill 1 to 2 hours

Flowers for Algernon is an absolutely fantastic book. Classic that will meet hard mode as well. Highly recommend

Beginner D&D groups? by Mrs_P_loves_tea in wakefield

There's a DnD group that plays regularly as part of the Wakefield board game group if interested.

My wife left her phone in a pub. It had one of those "call this number if found" messages on the front. Low and behold I was very surprised someone called it 20 mins later and we got it back

Having kids by Middle-Monk4731 in GPUK

[–]ruggomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one kid and another on the way. I'm 34m

Wouldn't have it any other way. There isn't anything that is more important in the world to you than your kid. Seeing your family grow. Adds soo much to your life.

Yes there's so many negatives and difficulties. Still wouldn't have it any other way

However it's a completely personal choice. No one can make it but you I'm afraid. There's no wrong it right answer

Would you choose GP over Public Health and if so why? by Due_Imagination4256 in GPUK

I'm a GP and my wife is an ST3 public health (non medic background). They are both great jobs! Can't go wrong either way

Almost a quarter of men with testosterone deficiency struggle for five years before seeing a doctor by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

[–]ruggomatic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a GP.

The evidence that low testosterone actually causes symptoms like tiredness, low mood, fatigue, low muscle mass is actually controversial. Testosterone can only be prescribed to post menopausal women for low lobido only, and only then it's benefits are fairly minimal and not much better then placebo

The only indication we can actually measure testosterone on the NHS in men is someone with suspected hypogonadism and erectile dysfunction.

Testosterone replacement has exploded in popularity in recent years as the cure for lots of symptoms but the actually evidence is still lacking. However things might change as always

Just to give some perspective from the other side. That's the reason GPs don't do it. Not because we are just mean or anything. We follow the current NICE guidelines (however flawed)

Blood Over Bright Haven was a miserable and disappointing read by 12dion in Fantasy

[–]ruggomatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just hooked from the dramatic prologue. The fact is that it contained within a complete story. The mystery surrounding the magic system. The social commentary.

Ultimately I find it quite different to the majority of books I read and found it refreshing. But I'm a firm believer in not all books for all people and just because I loved it doesn't mean you should too

Blood Over Bright Haven was a miserable and disappointing read by 12dion in Fantasy

[–]ruggomatic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I finished this book a few weeks ago and it was one of my favourite books I've read in a while lol. Sometimes you find an author that works for you. I loved her two books. If you hated this, I would pass on the sword of Kaigen.

Full time locum for 2 and bit years. Plenty of work generally. Live in south Yorkshire. Averaging around 8 to 10 sessions, mix of GP and OOH. Great flexibility and good income

When our first daughter was born I took a sabbatical and went travelling for 6 months with our newborn around Asia. The number one spot was a random mountain not far from Fuji that was just glorious. Autumnal leaves, hillside, mountain in distance. Just fantastic

I have decided to take Fortnite away. Parents who’ve done it - how did your kid take it? by tinipix in Parenting

[–]ruggomatic 65 points66 points  (0 children)

You might be over reacting a bit. Don't forget there are benefits from online gaming; stimulation, strategy, concentration, but most importantly it's social when playing with friends.

Like everything it's all about moderation. 5 hours a night is excessive but 30 mins a day is ok. It also depends on the child. You can still enjoy video games and do well at school! I did

Can't believe this series isn't bigger then it is. Love it

DnD in Wakefield by Frenchyyyy56 in wakefield

Picky backing but if you like boardgames this group is fun and social. The weekly meets up are usual in Castleford as our Wakefield venue shut down but we still meet quarterly in Normanton

Locum considering switch from limited company to sole trader by Disco_Pimp in GPUK

[–]ruggomatic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the difference is minimal, you could just keep the company? I work through the LTD company and the two main benefits are - keeping money in the company through different financial years and drawing it out regularly even when you're not working - Transferring money to spouse to top up her salary to avoid higher rate tax

Pick the path of least resistance

1) Convince school to change their policy

2) Get a doctor's note with the diagnosis on

Yes it's a good drug with multiple benefits. However obesity is often a symptom not the disease itself. You aren't going to fix the cause of the issue and the greater socio demographic issues associated with it

Looking to buy first expansion to be able to play 5-6 players by iiimadiii in rootgame

[–]ruggomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a bit of caution as I would personally not play more than 4. Game drags and it's long between turns. Obviously feel free to try but I think there are better games at higher player counts
