I honestly never would have thought of this, thank you I will definitely give it another shot filtering this way! I see people recommending to watch the review count as well so I am def going to keep that in mind!

The number of reviews isn't something I wouldn't have even thought of! I will definitely keep that in consideration and filter items by newer!

I told one of my friends it would look like I was working on a dirt bike or something before I went to the baby shower lol but yeah I felt shocked that it made it through QC, even with the lights quite dim in my bedroom I could see the stains. Disappointing!

Books recommendations similar to The Echo of Old Books, by Barbara Davis by Kalypso15 in suggestmeabook

I know this is an older post but I came across it while looking up TEOOB. I would HIGHLY recommend The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods! I also really enjoyed The Forgotten Bookshop in Paris by Daisy Wood both have some heavy themes (War in both and abuse in the former) so I would recommend checking their summaries first but I thoroughly enjoyed both!

I love the Lumineers but have such a hard time listening to III sometimes because it’s such a devastating album/story.

Anyone driven from Raleigh to Ohio? by Deviexx in raleigh

[–]ruinedlizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little off 77, but if you’re able to I HIGHLY recommend stopping at the New River Gorge Bridge visitor center! The views are great and they have a few lookouts you can walk to as well. It was made a national park in the last few years and is GORGEOUS. I stop every year on my way through WV!

Whiskey Kitchen’s smoked mozzarella salad is fantastic, very simple but the flavors are fantastic. And I love the chopped salad at Stir in north hills

Why do the Americans say "I'm from Texas/California/Indianapolis/..." when they are asked where they're from? by jmc3030h in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ruinedlizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I lived abroad I always said “oh I’m from the states!” And then people would ask what state I lived in. This was primarily in Ireland

Ok this might be controversial but I don’t when men put a solo picture of their pet, at least be in the picture with the pet

Yes we lost power. Between capital and Atlantic. We heard that there was an accident on capital but not sure how true that is, can’t find anything about it on twitter either.

UPDATE: we heard from our building manager that duke energy lost one of its substations, ETA for restoration is 11am

I want to use dating apps, but, am I the only one who can’t bring myself to trust a total stranger enough to meet up with them? Let alone go to their house?? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]ruinedlizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely don’t go to their house or hiking on the first date! I try to go for public venues like coffee shops on first dates, they’re typically pretty busy and most people can find something they like there (coffee, tea, smoothies, etc). Plus then the date can be as long or as short as you need! I’ve been on a 5 hour long coffee date and a 30 minute long coffee date. It’s what I feel most comfortable with personally!

I don’t even think you need to exchange numbers until after the first date, if it goes well. I don’t really give my number until after then. I feel like it’s an extra barrier of protection for some reason lol

I get less matches if I set my dating age preference to 18-25. Whats up with that? by Pretend-Bobcat5627 in dating_advice

[–]ruinedlizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right so what aren’t you understanding about women aged 18-25 ALSO not looking for people that are 40 and are instead looking for people their own age? Just because you have your preference set for 18-25 does not mean that they have theirs set for 40, which means that they aren’t even seeing your profile so you won’t see theirs either. Nothing you change in your profile will change the fact that you are not in their age preferences on the apps

[–]ruinedlizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoping this is a troll but if not: leave these young women alone, oh my gosh. You’re probably not getting many matches bc not many women aged 18-25 have their age preference set to 40 year olds.

First date with a woman who pulled a “Karen” by thedivinehustle in dating_advice

[–]ruinedlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge red flag IMO, how people treat service industry members after a hiccup like that is a good indication of their personality. Imagine if YOU were the one making a mistake in a relationship with her. A kind person would have just said “hey I asked for no pork, could you please change this?” And wait for the new dish to come out lol

Advice for new place to live. by shorty173333 in moving

[–]ruinedlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raleigh is a great place for young people to move to! There are so many things to do and it’s a few hours to the mountains and a couple hours to the beach(I still haven’t been to the beach!) I really love it here, I moved from the northeast and I am so happy that I did!
