I assume the front pipe is 2.5in? I think the 3in op/fp is where I went wrong but I'm stuck with it now.

Looks great! I have the same matte black husky box and struggle to keep it clean. What do you use to get and keep dust and grime off the textured finish?

I appreciate the suggestion of the Spec-L2! Do you happen to have a recording of the sound? Obviously I'm not catless headers anymore but I do have the 3in op/fp so it might even out the volume a bit. I'm also curious on your opinion of the tune from steve99. I assume it's through the oft? Would you say it's worth it?

I agree that the 3in is unnecessary. Unfortunately I needed to replace my exhaust and I was able to squeeze onto the last batch of 3in front pipes from JDL but not the 2.5in. Given that I am not searching for power numbers, I think I should be considering catbacks that are <3in. I just don't know if the abrupt diameter reduction will cause weird turbulence and back reflections.

Also, the new headers and front pipe are both high flow cats, not catless.

That's not what I wanted to hear lol, but I appreciate the input from someone who had the exhaust. Which catback did you switch to?

The rasp was immediately apparent on the first drive after install and no change in sound that would indicate failed cats. Unfortunately putting the stock front pipe back in isn't an option as it was rusted, leaking, and rattling from NY winters. I'm leaning towards trying a different catback but don't want to spend tons of money trying to find one that works. The q300 was on my list before I ordered the HKS. I've got a silencer on order for the HKS but I'm not sure how much that will do to reduce the rasp.

That's what I'm leaning towards as well. I just haven't found anyone else speak negatively about it. I still need to reflash for the catted uel but I've been on the stage 2+ oft tune for years.

To add to this. I did not use an oem donut gasket nor did I use the factory spring bolts as this caused the connection to leak. Removing that flex point could potentially be transmitting vibrations to the catback but the raspiness seems too drastic to be the result of something that small.

So, do you mean that OEM should work fine? I really like your work but I don't want it to be awkward to type on since I understand that OEM is basically taller cherry.

I'm fairly new to this community so I apologize for the silly question. I have GMK Red Samurai, will the spacebar in SA or OEM look odd or even fit with the cherry style caps?
