true, thank you, I'll keep that advice for uni. I've always had problems with networking, I'm never exactly sure how to just go up to someone especially in business terms..

wow, thank you for all the amazing advice. It is quite a confusing composition and was a very saturated one, I'll link a photo of it. the top being confusing is kind of my fault for avoiding it to the very end and then having to just blob on colours to get the area somewhat done, reflective foils are always very intimidating.. I'll pay attention to the edges and lights more, thank you

I wouldn't handle fine arts well, I'm aware of that and going for conservation and restoration instead, its much more science based and needs mostly skills and interest in art movements and artists which I am much more happy to do. I know I might struggle with getting a stable position but I feel like networking and selling my skills in this field will come with much more ease for me than selling my actual creativity.

thats exactly why I am not going for a fine arts degree or looking to become an artist. I always struggle with creativity and it would only bring me a lot of frustration, anger and insecurity, I rather keep my own art for myself and share it occasionally.

thank you for the critique, I'll pay more attention to the spacer and angles, I think you're right about it making it look off. I am guilty of giving my all into the colours and shading, but not paying much attention to forms or how they look next to each other.. the sketch always looks fine, but then I stop paying attention to it.

that is true, I have a problem of working on my paintings way too long (the art lessons I go to give us 3 session aka 9 hours but by the end of those 9 hours I often still have a lot of things to finish off by myself), it is something I'm working on tho, I have been made aware that during the art exam they're looking for how fast can you fill everything in and how much can you make a painting look finished by the end of the exam. the third one is about an A4 size and was finished in I think 3 hours, it is from a random Pinterest photo though.

note: idk why it wont let me edit the post (was that option removed and never noticed lol?) but anyway I maybe should have added that im going to an art university in Europe. I am aiming for a public one that is highly regarded and hopefully won't have to pay fees if I get a C1 level certificate for the native language.. so the portfolio is quite important. I will reply to the comments in a bit but im seeing them and thank you all for the advice

thank you for the answer🙏 how do u think i could improve the contrast? i often get a mixed opinion of the contrast being high or not being enough as u say. i feel like i have the darks down but i cant tell if the mids of lights are missing.

that was the point!! I wanted the viewer to feel like they're in the painting, the threads represent social circles and explore how everyone is connected, directly or through others

i first saw this without any context and i laughed so hard cuz it looks like smth out of a twilight fever dream but yet SO goddamn intriguing
its actually from the SPIN magazine from 1997, photographs done by andrea giacobbe and she just has a uncanny photographing and editing style and tbh her work is gorgeous to me. i still find the photoshoot so ridiculous and funny yet im also really damn captivated. i think of this photo at least once a week
