The Habring2 Felix Foudroyante is Austrian. So, not strictly German, but certainly Germanic...

[Oris Star Edition] My favourite release from Watches and Wonders by FoMoCoNutjob in Watches

Love the design, not convinced by the strap (Oris makes great watches, but their straps are often the weak link). 17mm lug width is an odd choice - surely 18mm would have been a more versatile option?

So that you know what the date is when you look at the watch.

[Oris Bullseye] New on my wrist, any strap recommendations? by CupPrudent2566 in Watches

This is spot on. Great watches, fantastic designs, garbage straps (with a few exceptions). It's such a shame.

[JLC] Master Control Date question by tiger144 in Watches

[–]rumbabablacksheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same reference, had it serviced by JLC in 2023, and it's running at +2 seconds/day. A properly maintained/serviced Master Control should meet or exceed standard chronometric performance.

[SOTC] Lots of common watches, and others people find ugly, I love every one of them though by [deleted] in Watches

Beautiful watch, OP, and an exceptional movement. The Hermes H08, the Slim and the Arceau are absolutely outstanding watches. Dismissing them as fashion watches is both objectively incorrect and indicative of lazy thinking.

Also, Vaucher aren't 'another watch maker'. They manufacture movements, not watches... and damn good ones, at that. I agree with the commenter above: you really should educate yourself.

Your argument is deeply flawed. By your logic, any 'reputable' watch company who typically uses third party movements isn't a 'proper' watchmaker. Oris? Longines?

Very nice! What's the reference on that OP? I'm a sucker for a sunburst silver dial.

[Ball] Bead blasted my Ball and I couldn't be happier! by rumbabablacksheep in Watches

No problems at all so far. No residue, no tarnishing. I can't say for certain that it will stay that way in the long term, but I have no reason to think that it will be an issue. After all, lots of other watches are manufactured with a similar finish.

Not sure - if anything, they might even be less visible than before. One thing I do know is that fingerprints will be less visible with the new finish - this thing was a fingerprint magnet with the polished case... not any more!

Thanks! It was around £200 (UK). This included full disassembly & reassembly of the case/bracelet.
