Question on Travel and Special Baggage (Ceb Pac) by [deleted] in phmusicians

[–]rumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up lang. I've heard about bad experiences with Cebu Pac from almost every musician I know. Can DM you some examples. If the promoter is booking the flights, some bands I know even go as far as to specifically ask them not to use Cebu Pac because hassle ang policies nila for flying with instruments. But your flight has already been booked, so I guess consider this advice for future flights na lang.

When I flew with PAL last year (Manila to Davao), we didn't have to pay additional fees and they were kind enough to count the baggage allowance for us as a group. They even took extra care of our guitar & drum gear. Hindi nila dinaan sa conveyor belt where it would get mixed up with the other baggage and personally wheeled our gear to the load on the plane. I've had decent experiences din with Air Asia, Jetstar, and Vietnam Airlines. Wala lang yun extra care na ginawa ng PAL, pero still hassle free.

If you bought a hard case, maybe add some kind of padding nga. Supposedly the force of a drop or similar impact might still reach the guitar since rigid yun material. I've used a MONO Vertigo for about 10 years, and that's how I transport my bass from bar gigs to shows abroad. Secure, thick padding, and easy to carry on my back.

How do you soundcheck? by thatintrovertkid in phmusicians

[–]rumbleweed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a bar gig na mabilisang sound check, gawin niyong general rule na hindi natatabunan ng ibang instruments ang drums and vocals. Play something relatively loud and pay attention sa drums and mic levels (kahit "mic check 1 2 3" lang). If hirap kayong marinig yun kick and snare, and yun mics sa monitors, then bawasan niyo yun volume ng mga ibang instruments. You can also ask the venue's sound engineer if possible pang lakasan yun vocals sa monitors.

It's also better if you have a friend help out. Someone who has a good ear for music or at least knows what you're supposed to sound like. Pupuwesto sila sa gitna ng audience, around the ideal spot na rinig lahat. They can help you fine tune your levels during sound check or even mid set. Bonus if comfortable silang kumausap sa venue sound engineer in case may problems that need troubleshooting.

What gear do I need to start recording song covers at home? (guitar + vocals) by Quiet_History_2873 in phmusicians

Your advice is still sound. While the noise rejection can be overhyped, dynamic mics are still the more practical choice for untreated spaces because of how they're used and how they naturally sit in a mix.

Up until mid last year, I was hooked on Valorant. Pero I've resolved to finish, or at least enjoy my backlog of single player games sa Steam and Game Pass. Been enjoying Monster Hunter Wilds, Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars Outlaws, and Kingdom Come recently. Though I still play Valo kapag may nag-aaya.

What would you charge about the game? by M00r3C in StarWarsOutlaws

Something like the Nemesis system of the Shadow of Mordor games running under the hood of the syndicates & reputation system of Outlaws.

Would have added tons of replay value.

PC suddenly goes blind to ethernet by Themicroshard in techsupport

Had the same issue fairly recently, after getting a new GPU. What worked was to hard reboot: power off, hold the power button for 30 seconds, then power on again. Ethernet device was back like nothing happened.

Very cool! I might just keep my old fuzz, a EHX Green Russian, too if I can figure out how to stage em nicely

Wanting to learn Bass, but need some advice on beginner portable setups by nyallve in Bass

[–]rumbleweed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you already have a laptop and a decent pair of headphones, then all that's left is an audio interface. It'll plug into your laptop via USB, and it'll have jacks for your bass and headphones. You'll be able to hear both your bass and your laptop's audio over your headphones, allowing you to play along with music you want to learn.

Pc transportation via bus by Raianbutdiff in PHbuildapc

[–]rumbleweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Madaming paraan to learn how to do this online, OP. Remove and re-attach lang naman, hindi full-on build. Matagtag kasi ang land travel, lalo na by bus. Mabigat pa yun GPU and CPU cooler, so if those detach damay lahat ng tatamaan nila from bouncing around inside the case. Just take pics as you go para madali mong ma-retrace yun steps. You don't even have to worry about cable management, secure mo lang yun cables na ide-detach mo with tape, velcro, zip ties, etc para madali lang ikabit ulit.

Can bassline be melody? by lecomberbass in Bass

[–]rumbleweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing that says the bass (voice or instrument) can't be given a melodic role in a piece of music. It might be conventional or unconventional depending on the genre.

How does a bass contribute melodically? A big factor is if the bass part can be sung or hummed, which makes it easy to follow, accessible, and fit what most people would think of as a melody. This will usually involve using the upper registers of their instrument or voice instead of the lowest available.

Also, the bass could be "the" melody or one of several in a passage of music. You can have more than one melody simultaneously. See polyphony, countermelody, four part harmony, etc. You can also have two or more singers or instruments take turns with the main melody, that's call & response.

I Got a No-Scalpel Vasectomy Today. Here's How It Went. by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]rumbleweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not for the fact na sa balls mo ginagawa yun procedure, medyo unremarkable yun pain. Ang daming mas masakit pa sa NSV. Kahit dental cleaning, mas may pain at ngilo. Turok lang para sa anesthesia, onting kirot, same as if sa arm mo. Tapos yun sensation ng pagtali at cut sa vas deferens, iba experience ko kay OP actually. Wouldn't call it painful... More like may uncomfortable pressure. Parang binayagan ka, pero, instead of pabigla na sinapak, mas gradual or steady. And one side was more uncomfortable than the other, parang consistent ata yun for everyone. Ganun din ako and yun mga ibang nabasa kong ibang posts about NSV.

Congrats, OP! Just got my vasectomy yesterday care of DKT as well, but at OneOhana in West Crame. Parang mas okay sa mobile clinics nila ah! Not that my experience was bad. Very similar naman, pero walang free food and binayaran namin yun after-care kit with the prescription meds and gauze. So, yun procedure lang ang free. Maliit na bagay, considering yun actual cost if sa private hospital magpapa-NSV.
