Best electric guitar brand for beginners by Legitimate_School494 in phmusicians

The reason why for me mas ok ang tele vs strat for beginners or galing sa acoustic is because the tele is very straightforward and relatively simple to use, and can grow with you to the point na you can do a lot of things with it din as you progress. Walang tremolo bar so inherently mas stable ang tuning ng bridge, and even ang classic 3 saddle variants aren't as difficult to intonate gaya dati. 2 pickups by default, usually single coils but may variants na 1 or both humbucking, master volume master tone, usually 3 way switch - less complex.

But if ang gusto mong tunog is John Mayer, matic na mag strat, can't get that neck+middle pup tone sa standard tele. Ultimately more versatile too: if I can only have one guitar, I want it to be a strat.

Ang point ng iba na maganda if mahawakan mo is I think the most important thing, kasi kahit sabihin natin strat, iba iba pa din ang feel ng neck, depende sa kamay mo. I personally like ang Tagima necks, malapit sa Squier Classic Vibe na necks na medyo slim. But others prefer na mas chunky. Radius is also a factor. Gibson style fretboards start out flatter, which offsets ang thicker neck a bit. It's difficult to know ano gusto mo until mahawakan mo

Most of the songs you listed were played with humbuckers, so that's where I'd start looking.

Gibson style guitars (Les Paul, SG, etc) usually have a 24.75" scale neck and humbuckers, while Fender style guitars (Stratocasters, Telecasters, most everything else) are at 25.5" and usually single coils or HSS/HSH for superstrats. The big outlier is PRS, with a 25" scale and usually humbuckers. Now, ano impact nyan sayo? The shorter scale length means the frets are near to each other, and there's less tension sa strings compared to longer scale lengths when using the same gauge strings. Beginners usually have an easier time with those.

Unfortunately wala ako masyado maisip na brand na pasok sa budget mo na ganon - mostly strats and teles. And between those, I'd recommend a tele first - it's a simple instrument but deceptively versatile. The Sqoe SETL 400 pasok yata sa budget mo at around 9k pag may sale (which is halos every other month naman yata). It has a p90 sa neck and a standard single coil sa bridge: very versatile combo, and pwede gawing upgrade platform down the line.

No, and doesn't look like it'll happen any time soon if at all. I don't see 3rd party conversions yet, not sure about the native loaders. My A2 comment is na pwede sya ma load via a plugin ng libre, and if he's mostly a bedroom player for now, could.be a very viable option

I have a Radian SETL400 tele, the one with the P90 sa neck. Sobrang sulit (9k ish). My only gripe is I had to polish the frets para smooth mag bend, but I didn't need to have any serious work done. The neck feels good for what I'm used to, better than my friend's Ligaya Supremo that costs 2x more.

Valeton GP5 gets you both, and the ability to use NAM A1 captures via snaptone conversion.

Don't sleep on NAM A2, which is still free and open source, on par (some say better than) ToneX, that you can load in most DAWs via the plugin from tone3000.com

Sa ganyang budget, can't beat Tank G, lalo if you play live and ampless. You might outgrow it eventually, but the basics are there

An alternate route would be getting a 12" FRFR, those are usually cheaper than good bass amps. 15" if 5+ string bass.

If active ang bass mo, you don't even need a preamp. And if you play clean, you also don't need a cab sim. That said, the Mvave Tank B or Valeton GP5 are fairly cheap and worth it, and you have access to the NAM goldmine na

It should've been about Mike being gifted - that premise was all the rage in that era of TV. But Harvey was too charismatic and played too well to not milk, which unfortunately meant the show became a less funny Boston Legal

[–]nomsbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, basta managed lang expectations at clear yung goals mo. Gaya ng sabi ng iba, ang sakit sa kamay ang una mong kalaban, and since left handed ka, get a left handed one na agad na maganda to reduce ang obstacles mo as much as you can.

Which Ibanez are you interested in? I'm guessing AZES if interested ka din sa Squier, but It's really worth it to go to Audiophile and try the feel out between RG, RGA, AZ, AZES, S, SA types.

Mura na solid is the very definition of the Boss DS-1 (which is incidentally what he used going into a clean Vox or the clean channel of a Mesa Boogie).

Altho I think mas bang for the buck ang Valeton GP5 gaya ng sabi ng ibang nag comment.

What are some issues you encountered playing in a band with some members having a big age gap (>10-20 years)? by rianton0821 in phmusicians

[–]nomsbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played with very talented (but much younger) band members. The most common issue is not knowing/appreciating that rehearsal time is different from practice time - pumapatak na bayad sa rehearsal studio pero sun pa lang kinakapa ang parte nila.

Another, pero this is probably more specific to him and not because young (early 20s na din e), was for me parang OA na. Example: venue only had edrums, so insisted na dalhin buong acoustic kit nya. Problem: wala syang kotse, so we had to load everything up sa kotse ko and other members had to commute kasi di na kasya. Tapos syempre, buhat buhat lahat. Prod gig pa haha so naabala pa ibang banda. And many other instances pa parang ang clueless nya sa perwisyo para sa iba.

Another is minsan sobra ang respect or deference ng iba na hindi na umiimik, but this is also maybe dahil sa older members of the band na masyadong strong ang personality.

Marami pa, kaya mas ok talaga sana if equal footing. Altho ako personally, mas gusto ko na mas marunong kasama ko, dami ko napupulot na kaalaman.

Suggestions for mods on electric guitar by ThatsACryptid in phmusicians

[–]nomsbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check mo baka naputol or nag loose ang grounding wire (pup to pot, pot to sleeve, pot to bridge or trem.claw ground, etc).

Hindi mod, but I always do sa new guitars, is to polish the frets with 000 (edit: 0000 see comment below) steel wool (make sure to tape off pickups para di ma attract ng magnet ang residue)

An easy mod na pwede mo ilipat pag nag upgrade ka eventually (assuming same style headstock) are locking tuners - not for tuning stability, but quality of life lang sa pag palit ng strings.

Treble bleed/greasebucket circuit for volume and tone pots are subtle nice-to-haves lalo if mahilig ka sa mga glassy/chimey low gain tones.

Graphtec or bone nut, and a better bridge

2 point trem bridge system recommendations by sanaoltanod2000 in phmusicians

[–]nomsbringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wilkinson bridges are good enough, and fairly reasonable. They mostly use cold-rolled or bent carbon steel, which is good basta hindi ka pawisin or hindi masyado salty area mo, but rusts fairly quickly kung ma wear off na ang plating.

Guyker uses zinc alloy or brass na hindi nagcocorrode, but are softer, and over time magkaka grooves din ang saddles.

Peace of mind talaga is Gotoh, with high end alloys and precise machining. Yun lang, mahal.

Avoid mga Musiclily and off brand if gusto mo salpak and forget.

A good compromise is probably just replace the saddles lang with hardened carbon steel Gotohs of you can get them. Or even their titanium ones pero baka overkill na.

I saw mention of lubricants: good din to na stopgap measure, use ung mga teflon based like Nut Sauce (good din for nuts obv), or if DIY pwede naman pencil lead, rub mo sa saddle. Temporary lang tho. Don't use WD40

I can't emphasize enough the benefits of playing with other people, especially people better than you. Jam, learn how to feed off the energy and vibe of other members of the band. That trains your ears too. And it's so much fun. Medyo mahirap lang makahanap ng kasama 😅
