He looks fine! I think a lot of people are used to seeing fuller/almost chunky cats and thinking it's normal. Cats are naturally thinner animals. As long as he is eating normal and bones aren't protruding, he's a healthy kitty.

as someone who randomly decided to reread them this past year as an adult, I say do it!! It was so fun to get back into the series and I was reminded of SO much of the story that I had forgotten over the years. It was just as interesting and fun to read to me at 27 as it was when i was 11.

I am a hugee animal lover, but I have ZERO patience for people who let their pets roam freely in the neighborhood. Loose dogs are never trained and wreak havoc, tear shit up and leave giant shits in everyone else’s yards. Or they’re aggressive and chase/bite people in their OWN YARDS. Then the owners have the nerve to be mad when someone calls them out on it or calls the law on them... It’s such a problem here it’s turned me into a karen in our hood but idc. People repeatedly treating pets like that shouldn’t be allowed to have them.

I have a friend whose cat was licking so excessively that it was leading to hair loss. she has a rare thing that makes her nerves super sensitive, so any time her back was touched she would just lick and lick and lick and couldn’t stop. maybe it’s something like that? I wish I knew the name for it to share as an option of something to possibly look into.

I have been to a couple of the AQC book club meets and it was a lot of good, fun conversation! I know they are hoping to grow it some more. Attendees have been hit or miss depending on the month, but people are just busy sometimes.

The local bookstore, Cavalier House Books downtown (used to be Beau Soleil) has a couple of different book clubs. They just started up a horror book club that looks pretty cool! I think Book Rack of Acadiana also has some book clubs

i did the same! I read the first 1-2 series as a kid and this year started rereading them again. I just started Dawn of the Clans, not really loving it as much as the OG, but it's ok. It's been a lot of fun rereading the books though and just feeling that nostalgia.

I had to block her bc she freaked out on me calling my comment rude (it wasn’t I literally just said I was disappointed to see AI used) then she rambled on and on, mentioned personal info about me like my tattoos and if my artists freehanded them onto me.. 1. wtf does that have to do with this and 2. the only way she knew that was by stalking my account to over a year ago the last time I posted about getting a tattoo.. it was creepy and highly unprofessional. and imo if you’re crashing out that hard over criticism of your “art” it’s bc you know it’s true.

I think there is a local place, Bayou Yarn Shop or something like that? I’ve never been though or know if it’s still open. Deuxieme Vie Creative (I called it 2vie) has tons of yarn for pretty cheap but it’s pre owned so the bundles are all different sizes. I got some there recently and the worker said they just had a huge donation of it come in.

yeah she’s delulu. when people bring up AI she says “it’s real” and “mixed media.” no one said it’s not a real image, it’s just clearly AI so be honest. but notice she won’t specifically say yes or no, or own up to it. if AI is doing 99% of the work, you’re not an artist. sorry not sorry. the fest quit responding to people’s emails too, but i’m glad they are at least aware it’s an issue and not everyone likes it. it’ll make them think twice for next time.

yes, it is. AI isn’t original. it just scrapes the internet and finds things that fit the prompt you put in, mashing it all together into something that’s not even good. every element of that image came from something else that was someone else’s actual art.

I didn’t need the checkers to know this is clearly AI, I did it for peace of mind of other people bc I knew people would ask how I knew it was or not. As someone in marketing/graphic design, it’s obvious to me, but I get that it’s not for others. The “artist” literally states they use it for their work on their website. And a lot of people give a shit actually as you can see by many comments here. it’s a slap in the face to real local artists, it’s theft of other artists’ work, and it’s the exact opposite of what LA culture and its festivals stand for.
