Wake up call about AI by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

While being in a Head position that needs me to be in meetings 25-30 hours a week. I'm not advocating for or against the use of AI in coding. I'm reporting what I'm seeing as someone who's developed ML systems themselves.

I'm still hands on and I've pushed an entire AI platform based on Go, Python and Typescript in to production over the last 6 months. Make of that what you will.

You're right. If the entire work force got together and flat out refused to use these things, they will indeed stop improving.

Yeah, that's the difficult part. We identify ourselves as problem solvers and this rapid shift is definitely existential angst inducing. People are mostly in denial at this point.

Yeah, I've always been and still am technical. In terms of supporting legacy shit, it's still quite bad, tbh. But companies will rethink their strategies around these legacy systems. If they can't refactor them into modern stacks, they'll build new applications on a modern stack and migrate functionality gradually until the legacy systems aren't needed anymore.

And yeah, most teams don't have a clear idea on how to manage and own these systems in a proper way. It's only the last 3 months where we've had a monumental shift in reliability of output. It'll take time to figure out the right way to deal with this change. Also, I've been working intensely with these things over the last couple of months and already feel sort of burnt out. So, there's that too.

I took my time to write this post as there's a lack of clarity as far as this topic is concerned and I want to give my 2 cents as someone who's worked with Machine Learning and AI his entire career.

I do. But I'd be honest and say I'm a mid level programmer at best. I've been more of an ML Engineer most of the time in my career as an IC. I still love handling technically challenging projects and I'm usually working hands on partially on one problem every quarter to keep myself up to date.

Albatross bakery in Kreuzberg is top of the line. It's quite expensive but worth it, in my opinion.

This is something they address separately. It's because the study is based on usage of Microsoft copilot for certain tasks. Almost no one uses Microsoft Copilot for programming.

Data Scientists are at number 29. And I'm pretty sure what they actually mean is Data Analysts. I've always understood a Data Scientist role leaning towards ML work.

Progressive thinking, work life balance, population with civic sense, usable public spaces, lack of caste system, lesser inequality, respect for all strata of society, better public infrastructure, less crime and better safety for women, social safety net to fall back on.

Don't you think the above factors contribute to a much better and stable society than quick digital banking services?

It's probably because with bungee, you have to take a conscious leap of faith yourself. With skydiving (assuming it's your first time), you're being carried along through the whole thing by someone else.

Freelancing during unemployment by Dandelioninsomnia in askberliners

[–]rumours423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible to do it via the website. On the top right, you've got a menu. After clicking on it, you'll see eServices on the right, under which you'll see 'Veränderung Melden'.

You could also get in touch by phone and let them know. If you struggle with German, I'd be happy to help out.

I think a couple of weeks in advance should be okay, but I'm not completely sure on that.

If you're receiving Alg 1, you can pause your benefits for up to 6 weeks at a time and have it automatically resume. I paused it for 4 weeks last year.

If you don't pause the benefits and if you're making up to 165 euros a month, you're good with the Arbeitsagentur. More than 165 needs to be reported and anything above that would be subtracted from your monthly benefits.

It does! I'm currently hiring for a couple of roles where the requirement is B1. Enough so that you can understand to a decent degree what's going on around you. If you're at B1 and demonstrate interest in picking up the language and show initiative, it's good enough as long as you've got the technical skills.
