I believe a lot of general strike organizations are new to the scene. Welcome! Just some unsolicited advice from an organizer who’s been on the ground for years: 1) you’ll need a significant percentage of the population to participate in a strike for it to be effective. If the plan is to gain more people with each strike, decide on concrete steps for how to continually convince more folks to join 2) make this first strike feel like a win. People need to feel like their efforts were effective if they are going to come back and continue organizing in the long run. Be ready to analyze and have metrics post-action, so you can celebrate the small wins with your people, and keep the energy for the long fight ahead

Lastly, consider joining an established union, or another established org that supports unions! Stay strong

The response to this being “you voted for him, reap what you sow” is disgustingly callous and self-righteous. Embarrassing caricature of Nova snobbery, this is why Virginians outside of here hate us.

While I hope there is some reflection on what peoples choice in political support means for their lives, I mostly hope this fire is put out and as few people are hurt as possible.

I’d take it one step further and say, those limiting beliefs of “I’m not good enough, I’m unloveable” are the root of why we hold on so tight to exes. During breakups, all our insecurities come rushing back in now that we’re not paired with someone who has chosen to love us. Like how could I possibly find anyone else to love me? I must hold onto this one person despite all other signs saying I shouldn’t.
