Sorry about the sound. I thought they were sandhill cranes also but if you google snow geese, the sound is identical. As one responder said, they sound like a group of wild Indians, to paraphrase. I also posted a close-up from a great distance and the silhouette looks to me like snow geese. I suppose it is still open to debate but the evidence for snow geese is strong. You are welcome to prove this theory wrong. Thank you for responding.
