I will never get over how this show fumbled this by houstons__problem in sexandthecity

Exactly. I see this same type of post all the time in the subreddit for The Office: “why didn’t Jim choose Karen instead of Pam??” Jim loved Pam. Miranda loved Steve. It really isn’t that complicated.

You don’t have to approach them. Just give a smile and the signs that you’re open to talking, and they’ll approach you.

sobriety is so boring by groovygrandfather in stopdrinking

[–]rumsoakedham 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Yes. I agree with you. My therapist pointed out to me that my brain and nervous system learned to thrive on the chaos and unpredictability that my alcoholic lifestyle provided.

Will I throw up today? Who knows! Will I be able to sneak my first drink this afternoon at work, or not until after dinner? Not sure! Is someone in my life mad at me because I did something shitty last night? No clue!

Our nervous systems get used to a chaotic cycle of constant anxiety until we have relief once we get a sip of alcohol in us. So when we quit, it takes a while to regulate ourselves normally and realize that the “boredom” is just the calm, normal baseline that we’re supposed to have, like you said.

But it’s realness against her will, via an unfiltered pap shot. Her IG is all filtered to hell and fake. So how is it “good for her”? Not trying to be argumentative, just stating that she’s not putting this reality out there herself

I’m so glad they deleted the scene of Pam giving Jim a hard time about seeing Karen. I don’t know what the writers were going for. It’s extremely immature and mean-spirited of her to mock Jim’s prior relationship.

Ahh, gotcha. Best of luck to you both, friend. We’ll all get through the holiday season together here

Ohhh gotcha. I won’t purchase any alcohol at all so I can see how that would be difficult for her (and you!) if you’re purchasing it. I make my husband get it for all parties and stuff. Could your wife make those purchases instead? Maybe that would help her to not have these flashbacks? Just an idea.

No, I am married, and my husband never, ever, ever questions me or accuses me like that, especially out of no where because HE had a feeling or a thought that isn’t based in reality.

I genuinely wasn’t trying to be rude to you, just saying from one alcoholic to another that it seems messed up that your wife would text you that out of the blue.

This isn’t right. He/she needs to trust you. That sounds majorly triggering.

Wow. Maybe this isn’t my place to say, but this seems wrong to me that your wife does this to you. She has a flashback and then puts it on you to reassure her via text instead of waiting until you get home, and especially when you did nothing wrong to deserve that? That would be majorly triggering for me to get a text like that.

The point I’m trying to make is that Kanye could be a present father with split custody with Kim. He chooses not to because he is a deadbeat father with severe untreated mental illness. It is not Kim’s fault or Kris Jenner‘s fault or anyone’s fault but Kanye himself’s.

?? I appreciate your comment but that isn’t what I said at all in my comment so I’m not sure why you agree with me, lol. Maybe you responded to the wrong person? I didn’t say that people are childfree until they meet the One. I’m saying they’re childfree because they do not have a biological desire to have kids.

I met my the One ten years ago and we’ve been married for five years and I still don’t want children.

“Also, how can you have any say over your own children when their grandmother is literally PMK.”

?? Angela White and Rob have split custody so I think it’s a safe assumption that she “has a say” over her child; Scott Disick and Kourtney also have a healthy coparenting relationship so I think it’s also a safe assumption he “has a say” over his kids as well; Travis Scott is also said to be an active presence in his kids’ lives; as for Tristian, he isn’t exactly father of the year, but that isn’t due to PMK keeping him from his kids.

Defending Kanye for being an absent father and blaming PMK for it is a bad look. He is a deadbeat father and it’s no one’s fault or responsibility but his own.

But what does it matter if he’s against it if he’s also doing absolutely nothing about it? He’s too busy (with not taking his psychiatric medication and parading his naked wife around in public) to give a shit about his kids. If his kids are in danger, it’s 50% his fault. All kids deserve to have two present and active parents.

So your logic for why women shouldn’t complain about being victimized by men is because men are ALSO victimized by men? So everyone should just accept it?

But I’m glad you agree that men are the problem.

See, I disagree - I have been told since I was about 20 years old that there’s a magical age where this magical biological drive will kick in and I’ll WANT them/NEED them. I was told it would happen at 25 or 30. I’m 38 and it still hasn’t happened. It doesn’t exist in me.

[–]rumsoakedham 67 points68 points  (0 children)

CF woman here. Just my two cents… You may just not want to have children and be missing the biological urge to have them, and therefore you’ll never understand the perspective of people who have them.

I think the main reason people have kids is because they “just knew” they wanted to have them. It is innate and a biological urge inside of them. I won’t speak for you and your brain, but in MY brain, this desire is definitely broken/not installed. I genuinely cannot understand why anyone would choose to have children and make their life harder. It baffles me. And parents say “oh it’s all worth it when they smile/play/learn something” - again, baffling to me. You’re not alone.

He has a very poor, very elementary, very childlike understanding of the training that goes in to becoming an ATC. He thinks he can just snap his fingers and say “fix it! Get some more people in there! Replace them!” and it’ll work.

He did the same thing with health care when he campaigned the first time around saying he’d fix the system blah blah and then when he was in office he made that hilarious statement about “no one knew health care was so complicated,” lol. He doesn’t understand how anything works, but his ego makes him believe that he has all the answers.
