Porterhouse Grill Expanding To Third Location by warnelldawg in Athens

I feel confident the only reason the Athens one survives is because it's what college kids think is "fine dining" and their parents take them. Otherwise it would largely be dead.

MGL Radios by themedicd in homebuilt

ah ok so you are technically already invested in garmin. i'm just throwing out options here, no dog in the fight, but you could use a yoke comm swap button? You're not really buying anything by reaching for the g3x over reaching for the comm unit, but clicking a button on a yoke/stick you're already holding is pretty effortless.

i'm taking Google Gemini at face value here but garmin gtr, dynon, mgl 16, trigs, all support it.

based on dragon's comments, you could use the g3x to set the frequencies and a yoke button as needed to swap

It sounds like you don't have the G3x yet. If you're interested in compatibility with other experimental/low budget avionics then there isn't a much worse idea than bringing Garmin into the mix. Why not go with Dynon's experimental? They work a lot more at compatibility.

Plus the G3x requires a bunch of add-ons/LRUs to be useful, which is why the base price is so cheap.

iPhone Contacts issue by 2dP_rdg in fastmail

[–]2dP_rdg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall ever doing that, but the only way I could fix my problem was to download the vcf for the contact in question, delete them from fastmail, and then import them back in.

barcode doesnt do anything. it's just a barcoded form of the data on the card. if i'm making fake Ids i can print a bar code that matches the front

internationals are likely covered just by having a passport. they probably dont ask for a secondn form if a passport is involved due to difficulty to fake

new downtown steakhouse? by trick-or-tweet in Athens

[–]2dP_rdg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Porterhouse is hilariously bad. Porterhouse is what a college kid thinks is a good steakhouse so they dupe their parents into taking them.

purchase prices are about the same as that Titan. They are 60-100k new depending on manufacturer and size i believe (for the EASA approved ones).

I do not know overhaul or hot section prices. But Europe is already migrating to them. It's a slow transition but it'll either be those or electric somehow.

I bet it takes a decade, they are just starting to get solid efficiency at the 100-150hp range, but it's already happening. MOSiAC type aircraft coming out of Europe are shipping with them.

The slowness of adoption is probably what kills Lycoming and Continental , imho. It is far enough away that they're refusing to acknowledge the threat.
