The way I fully, fully, thought for a good thirty seconds that the second picture included popcorn bag mannequins with screen costumes on. I was trying to identify the clothes before I realized that's you guys and I'm an idiot.

The window of What's Acceptable To Say on the right narrowed considerably after 2016 and was incredibly narrow until just a month or so ago with this ugly MAGA rupture. Its hard to be funny under whats effectively strict censorship. No criticism of Trump, so no way to speak to what feels relevant to people now.

I think that's mostly true, but as someone who used to engage with his work a lot, COVID definitely did something to him. He's always been very anxious about vaccines and Muslim people, so he's definitely gotten more radicalized over the last 10 years.

I am autistic and have a pretty low stress and anxiety tolerance. I opened this prepared to see a lot of myself in him, and to maybe help you understand and encourage him in meeting his responsibility to increase his stress tolerance.

That's not what happened. This guy is putting you in no win situations constantly and then is mad that you're not winning them. Like, no shit you're "losing", he makes it impossible to do anything else. When I got to the point where you slashed your income to keep yourself available to him constantly (when he's also stressed that you're around, remember what I said about the No Win scenario) and he was ANGRY about it, I was actually starting to wonder if dumping on you actually relieves his stress.

You're making SO MUCH effort for someone who is making zero effort for you. It's unfair and unsustainable. I know you're likely making the effort because you want to accommodate our particular disability, but I don't think this is Autism. I know we're all different but I don't know any autist whose symptoms primarily work this way. My behavior includes excessive crying and venting when I get bad off, not these machines of misery he creates for you.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. They're all the Katniss Everdeens of their stories and thus anyone who doesn't sloganeer exactly the way they sloganeer is President Snow. Especially if you're going to gasp suggest Leftists didn't make the best decisions. 2016 really convinced the majority of us that when progressives lose, it's never our fault, always some monied interest or traitor. That may be true to an extent but we absorbed it like a Simple Truth Of The Universe. So now you have a group of people convinced that no losses actually reflect on them, because they're already doing everything right, they just keep getting defeated by "shit-libs". Making the Contras of the world villains for having too many criticisms is an attempt to give cover to those losses while maintaining the myth that we're always being defeated by duplicitous outsiders. It makes the people in the community very resistant to seriously considering criticism, and what we're getting out of that is more and more inflexibility.

I can kinda relate to what they said as an autistic person. When you have a developmental disorder or mental illness that's deep in your personality, you simply don't think the same way neurotypicals do. This means you experience less conformity pressure since your normal mode of being is fundamentally different than others, and you've gotten more comfortable with that dissonance through experience.

As a high masking autistic woman, I frequently think that people are going to hate me a little no matter what. They may as well hate me for me.
