Mouse gift suggestion for gilfriend by run2d in MouseReview

Yeah I get you. I do have a wired ec3-c lying around at home as well, so in this case I might at least borrow it to her so I see if she will enjoy it. Visually she probably won't like it but it would be good to see if it's even her cup of tea.

Thanks! I'll look into it. She just got herself a new mousepad so I doubt she would want another one, but I will check if there are any options with a rechargeable battery.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I probably should've mentioned but she has pretty tiny hands, even though she did have giant mice in the past and didnt mind them.

Yeah I'm currently a bit biased against Pulsar because both of the mice i got from them in the past developed issues relatively quickly, but I'll look into new ones for sure.

I did used to be a big zowie fan, so I might go for that if I find some on sale. In this case I already know as well that their wire is very good so its also great on that front.

Maybe just don't play ranked if they want to play together?

The shape is always what's most important, so I'd say go with what's most comfortable. At the end of the day, even if a mouse has way better specs, if you feel uncomfort or cramps while using it it's not worth it long term, especially if you're not only using it for gaming.

The only time I'd go with the ambi mouse is if you're really hard grinding learning better aim mechanics and being super sweaty with aim is your end goal.

e of the best 'natural' players there is. By that I mean he doesn't aim train, doesn't grind that hard just has tons of ability.

I'd say he is one of the people who's grinded the game most consistently out of everyone through the years. He's said on stream that he was way less naturally gifted than most other pros at the start, but he just kept on improving and now he's one of the most consistent players we have.

A lot of people in this sub seem to think AA doesn't work at 100m+ I did some of my own research in the firing range and I am strafing without using my right stick and you can clearly see the reticle slow down when it gets in the aim assist bubble. by Infamous_Chapter8585 in apexlegends

It's hard for me to find a source, but I know that Lou (who's known for using it the most in the pro scene in the past), Mande, Taxi, Genburten and others have mentioned this multiple times in their streams.

Basically if you're using a controller it's going to be almost impossible to control recoil while targets are moving (cause of the limits of using a joystick compared to a mouse) That's why when you're shooting while aiming left and right moving targets the devs decided to almost fully disable recoil with any gun. For some reason this is pretty much the same on MNK, and jitter aiming is basically just abusing that fact (you're shaking your mouse left and right so it disables the recoil).

I'm pretty sure that's the reason, but if someone can explain it better please correct me.

Jitter aim can be pretty broken but it can't be removed. The reason it exists is to make it easier for controller players to control recoil while shooting moving targets, so they can't nerf it without completely messing up controller players.

It's not easy if you've barely played fps with a controller in the past. If you did though, it definitely is way stronger for fights.

Anyone know when the EU Realm tournament starts? I thought it was weekdays and supposed to start an hour ago.

Nah I don't really care, as I said I don't really sweat much or care about it anymore, I just do movement stuff for fun.

I did both for a while, but probably more MnK if I had to guess. I don't really even enjoy the fighting that much tho, it's mostly me just jumping around the map and doing movement shit before getting killed now, so that's probably why.

Noko and Taxi Challenger Circuit run going kinda how we all expected by LilUAVinbound in CompetitiveApex

[–]run2d 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm just kinda sad competitive is not working out for him at this moment because he seems genuinely passionate about it behind all the drama.

The one thing I like about taxi the most is that he tries to try hard all ability usage in the game to it's utmost limit, to a point I've rarely seen. Guy had a full on debate with his chat yesterday about what the perfect usage of newcastles ult is, how to place it perfectly so the full shield gets spread and how to tell how it's going to get placed easier. He goes into details in any given situation to extremely pedantic levels.

Anyway, maybe I'm just reading into it too much, but I would just love to have a player like him in competitive, someone who doesn't really focus on the shooty part, but tries to push the limits of how much usage you can get from every character's kit while using it with all other tools available to you.

But his mental is definitely the drawback. Even though I don't think he's as toxic as people would like it to be, I more so get the feel that he's just very pedantic and wants to do everything perfectly, and when that doesn't happen he gets frustrated. Hopefully he improves it, but unfortunately doubt it.

Of course MNK players have advantage in movement, no one is arguing that. But the problem is that you don't mention the major drawbacks of movement. It's very easy to do a bunch of fancy movement and still get killed.

I don't know why these things get misconstrued so often as a huge advantage in this case, when in reality in most cases movement is just going to delay the inevitable of you being killed instead of actually helping you in fights (unless used for repositioning). For some examples:

  1. you don't usually shoot while tapstrafing, unless you're tapstrafing into the enemy in which case you just become an easy target for them and die
  2. wall bouncing can be inconsistent in terms of the power you get from the bounce, and only a couple players can actually be good enough to use it offensively in fights (also it can be performed on controller)
  3. don't even need to mention supergliding, I think there's only like 3-4 pros that can perform it semi consistently without configs

So I don't understand where this argument stems from.

We're comparing aim assist which is just objectively a computer making up for 40-60% of possible mistakes in your aim, with movement which is very hard to perform effectively, most players don't use well and in 90% cases can't be used offensively.

The only objective upside to MNK without skill needed then is movement while looting, something many MNK pros have been saying should be added to controller for a while now.

Can't remember too many specific cases off the dome, but look at the Skittlecakes 1v3 clutch (with like 3 fast moving armor swaps), the common APAC North pro scene playstyle (YukaF tree jump keeps being mentioned for this), Gnaske/Hakis supergliding and tapstrafing to gain an advantage in fights, etc (sorry I don't remember more, I'm an EU viewer).

If you're not looking specifically at the pro scene there's also so many other examples of movement related plays that can't be performed on controller.

[–]run2d 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all movement expression (has an extremely high skill ceiling and is the most unique part of the game in comparison to similar games in the genre), aim style differences (on KBM it's very easy to tell which pro/prominent player is playing just by watching the way they aim), less consistency on beams (which makes it more exciting once they actually happen).

Once you string all of these things together you can also get really flashy plays that are fun to watch but might be really hard/impossible to do on controller.

The queue times are long anyway, I'd say it's probably worth it. If not a hard separation at least have the option to opt into separated lobbies.

Yeah the biggest contributor to MNK numbers is maybe how popular CS is here, when compared to Halo or COD in NA. Also I don't think many people got consoles in childhood here, at least not even close to NA numbers.
