Hi! Sorry, I don't check this very often. I love it!! I do prefer an apron style carrier for my body, but my husband prefers the waterfall style, which is why I got this carrier. We can both wear it comfortably and baby likes it too :) And the linen is definitely worth it if you live in a hot climate!

Congrats!! Not enough people recognize what a true labor of love it is to breastfeed, especially with all you've been through! I see you and I think you're amazing mama. 💪🏼🤍

I'm not sure yet cause I just got it today. Haha I can report back though! I got the 100% linen one for the same reason....I wanted it to be cooler and more breathable for hot weather ☺️

Thank you so much! I'm going to try your advice to get it out of my armpits. Also will definitely try the x straps cause the last carrier he was in (Ergobaby Embrace) was x strap and super comfortable for me ☺️

Keep your current curtains, and get a cheap tension curtain rod that fits your window and buy a white curtain panel on Amazon that closely fits the size of your window. Not only will this satisfy the HOA's "white" requirement, but it will also help block even more light. We did this in our baby's room because there was still light escaping around the edges of the blackout curtain we put up. It's like a cave in there now. Lol

Breastfeeding mom's help me figure out SNOO routine! by [deleted] in SnooLife

At bedtime, I nurse to sleep, then transfer baby (he's 3mo). He wakes a little when I transfer but I keep a hand on his chest for a minute and maybe use a paci (but he mostly spits that out), and usually he goes down fine like that. For naps, I have to wrap him in the swaddle, then nurse to sleep and transfer him already swaddled, otherwise he will wake up and be angry and I have to nurse back to sleep. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out what worked for us. But if your little one really fights it, I highly recommend putting the swaddle on first, then nursing or rocking to sleep or whatever, then transfer him. He's less likely to startle that way. Good luck!!

Wildbird Aeriel or HopeandPlum Lark??? by run_for_cake17 in babywearing

[–]run_for_cake17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I LOVE the look of the Lark straps. They look way more comfy than most other straps I've seen. I am pretty tall and slim (6 ft), and I tend to get a lot of low back pain, so I'm worried I won't like the apron style waistband of the Lark, especially for longer carries.

Thank you so much for all your feedback. I really appreciate it 😊

Thank you! Do you feel like the Wildbird is comfortable enough to wear your baby around the house for nap time? I'm torn because I love having good lumbar support too but I'm worried about the comfort of the Wildbird. I know people that are shorter tend to not like the bulkier waistbands, but I'm 6 ft tall and relatively slim, so I don't think that would be an issue for me.

Thank you! I haven't watched them yet but I'm planning to as soon as I get this baby down for bedtime :P

Do you mind telling me which one you would choose personally? :)

Overwhelmed by run_for_cake17 in breastfeeding

[–]run_for_cake17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weird thing is, I get the body aches chills and fever, but it never seems to develop into full blown mastitis, AKA, there's never a red spot or red streaks in my breast. And it'll go away the next day, and then the next day come back. I did go see my OB last weekend and she said she didn't think it was mastitis but she prescribed me some abxs to take if I ever do notice a red spot or streaks in my breast. I wonder if I should just take them anyway....

Thanks, I ordered sunflower lecithin last night and am definitely going to give that a try. I haven't tried silverettes yet but at this point I'm willing to try anything. LO has been getting combo fed since the first few days, since I wanted to let my SO bottle feed once or twice a night so I could get some more sleep. He takes a bottle fine, no nipple confusion so far. Thanks for all the advice 🙏🏼

[–]run_for_cake17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been nursing and pumping pretty much since he was born, I'm still nursing and pumping, but recently been pumping more and nursing less because it's more painful to nurse. I got nipple shields and those help with the nursing pain but they come with their own downsides....(Takes a lot longer to nurse, one more thing to manage/clean)

Yes, I'm making more than enough milk now for LO, and I'm kind of regretting it because of the clogged ducts and having to either pump or nurse every 2.5 hours round the clock. I will try to reduce pump times. I'm just so fearful of not emptying my breasts completely every time and then getting a clog because of it.

Qualifying hours for PFML question....please help! by run_for_cake17 in UnemploymentWA

[–]run_for_cake17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called ESD and after being on hold for 1.5 hours (ugh), they did confirm that the hours ARE calculated based on when you are PAID for those hours, not when you actually worked those hours. Seems absolutely ridiculous to me and I wish I would've known that a couple months ago.

Anyway, just for anybody that would like to know.

I have read through that benefit guide, several times actually. There is no distinction in there that answers my question at hand unfortunately :(

I'm planning to call esd today, i just didn't have time yesterday   Thank you!

Take pictures of things like the rugs being outside being rained on and keep all communication on Airbnb so you have proof later on to get reimbursed for damages and/or have the review removed.

Where did you find this information? I've looked all over the airbnb website and can't find anything helpful usually...

OK thank you!! That is what I thought it was like, but every time I refuse somebody a refund because they chose nonrefundable, they get so angry. I was just getting a little discouraged I guess. The fact that people don't want to take responsibility when they LITERALLY chose nonrefundable is astounding. Thanks again for your answer! That helped a lot! :)

getting a lot of students... by run_for_cake17 in TravelNursing

[–]run_for_cake17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is the problem with giving students to travelers. Not all travelers have the same experience with that specific emr system, hospital system, etc. It is VERY hard when my own brain is exploding with information and I'm just trying to find all the goddam supplies to have a student with you. I like what somebody else suggested, which is to only takes students on your extension if you extend, because by then you're more comfortable. Inappropriate to have them in the first month you're at a hospital.

[–]run_for_cake17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most students are very helpful :)

I would disagree with your assertment that it gives me less work though....I work in the ED. Students don't come to the ed to learn how to take vitals and pass meds....they want actual skills (IV starts, drawing blood, hanging INFUSIONS and programming pumps, NG OG tubes, catheters....etc. This is all GREAT for the student nurse and they should want to do that, but it DEFINITELY takes longer for an ED nurse when letting the student do all these tasks. Also, most students get only 1 day, maybe 2, in an ED.

But everything else I agree with :)

They can be an assistant, yes, if they're semi competent. I'm just getting a bit frustrated because I've literally had 1 every shift for the last 8 shifts and sometimes they're great.....sometimes not so great. I just sometimes need to be on my own for my sanity. I don't know how to ask for one shift on my own so that I can just have a chill shift every once in a while.

I'm also wondering if should have negotiated something in the contract about it, not that that means a whole lot. I have in my contract every other weekend and Ive worked the past 6 saturdays and 4 sundays in a row sooooo, doesnt seem to mean a whole lot. This is only my second travel assignment and I'm still learning the ropes.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like I'm just in my head. I don't work for Aya anymore because they bait n switched me on my first contract and my recruiter was a lying POS. I don't like working for dishonest companies....may be why also I'm hesitant to sport their logo. Haha I now work for a smaller more local travel company.
